Gone for a mature age recruit in Jayde Van Dyk with our next live pick, apparently upset at missing out on the other Dutchy on the board. :p

22 years of age, represented the Hawks in the VFLW this season. Tall, rebounding defender, VFLW rising star and part of their premiership team. Meets two of our list needs smartly.

EDIT: Clarified that she's seen as a key defender with running ability

Charlotte Wilson taken with our next pick, another key defender who can also move forward or into the ruck, this time coming out of the TACW system via Eastern Ranges.

Top standing vertical and 3rd in the 20m sprint at the combine. Solid long term replacement for Alison Downie.

Next pick is Emerson Woods, team mate of Charlotte Wilson from Eastern Ranges. Best speed/endurance combo at the combine, and another Hawks premiership player in the VFLW.

Midfielder who can run all day, but will need to tidy up her footskills and footy IQ. Potential Simmo clone for the ladies' team.

Onto Rhiannon Watt, who comes in as an immediate senior ruck solution. Saints B&F in the VFLW, VFLW team of the year.

186 cms, 30 years of age. We'll probably lose her to the Saints in 2020, but she'll be great to have in the mean time.

Gets involved in the midfield play after dominating the hitouts, so look for us to have some interesting setups next year between Davey, Van Dyk, Moody, Downie, Wilson, Watt and Harris. An athletic and dynamic tall setup at both ends.

Next pick is Jess Edwards, VFLW captain for Collingwood this year.

Somewhat recognised as a defensive player, but is versatile in her positional play and gets up the ground. Decent size for a midfielder, and obviously a mature age recruit coming to us at 29 years of age.

Came back from London once the AFLW roared to life and should slot into our 22 next year.

blues pass on their last selection

We pass on Pick 49 and we are done.

Welcome to all our new AFLW Players.
With our final pick, we've passed, which leaves us available to potentially sign players who go undrafted in the other state and regional pools (including Geelong).

Carlton has recruited exceptionally well in the AFL Women’s Draft. The Blues have been able to fill the void of Danielle Hardiman and Kate Gillespie-Jones through picking up Van Dyk, Wilson and Bentley, who will all give the opposition forwards plenty of headaches. Bentley can also provide support in the midfield, and replaces the experience of former Blues captain, Lauren Arnell.

The Blues’ midfield has also received a huge boost with the acquisition of one of the best Under 18 midfielders in the country, in Madison Prespakis. Prespakis will add an element of aggression and will be able to break the lines with her football smarts. Together with Jessica Edwards, Abbie McKay and Emerson Woods, Carlton’s new-look midfield will certainly turn some heads.
