2018 AFLW Grand Final

Collingwood cannot make the Grand Final.

Adelaide's path to defending its premiership is now clear – defeat Collingwood on Sunday at Olympic Park Oval and qualify for the Grand Final.

If the Crows lose, the Lions will play in the Grand Final for a second consecutive year following their 40-point thumping of Greater Western Sydney on Friday night.

Team news

Collingwood

The majority of the side who travelled north will once again play as the Magpies farewell 2018 in front of a home crowd.

Ruby Schleicher will miss with concussion, while Bree White, Holly Whitford and Sarah Dargan are all a chance to add a final game to their respective campaigns.

Adelaide

Midfielders Georgia Bevan and Sally Riley have been included in Adelaide’s extended squad to play Collingwood at Olympic Park on Sunday.

There are no omissions from the team that beat Fremantle at this stage, with the side to be finalised on Friday afternoon.

Emergencies last week, Bevan and Riley have both displayed strong SANFLW form.

Very nice from Jazzy G, another Pie threatening to skyrocket with some more service from the mids.

Good response from Adelaide though, Phillips seemingly moving better than last week turns expectations of this match right around.

Not surprised that Collingwood won. In the last three weeks they beat Brisbane (53-39), Melbourne (58-24) and ran Bulldogs close (lost 41-49). Those are the top 3 sides so no surprise to me that Adelaide were beaten by Collingwood too.

Huge momentum swing, huge consequences. Collingwood's form in the last 4 matches really stacks up. They do have their weaknesses but as an old saying goes: there's nothing wrong about their team that can't be fixed with what's right about their team.

Adelaide... it's a bit simple to say, but if they made the GF from the 0-2 position they were in, they'd have deserved it. Now that they've missed on going back-to-back, they deserved that too. Every team is worse off without their go-to gun, but that gap is the biggest for the Crows and not just because every team doesn't have an Erin throwing the curve out of whack. Well and truly in the discussion for worst 6th-21st list depth, but even some of their top-end talent were extremely disappointing this year in one way or another (basically all to do with discipline).
