I knew someone was missing!!!! Yep Wilson for Weller and Weller to the interchange. Looks like Mundy might have to get fitted out for a Peel jumper.

Surely Hughes for Johnson and Mundy for either Langdon or Nyhuis then. Same rationalle.FB: L Ryan, J Hamling, M Johnson
HB: G Logue, A Pearce, N Wilson*
MI: S Hill, N Fyfe, B Hill
HF: H Bennell, M Taberner, C McCarthy
FF: M Walters, B Cox, B Matera**
RU: A Sandilands, L Neale, C Blakely
INT: S Darcy, D Mundy, D Tucker, L Weller
Hughes, Langdon, Deluca, Grey, Kersten, Apeness, Nyhuis, Ballantyne, Spurr
* I named Wilson as he is expected to be at Freo
** (If we get him) Matera gets the nod ahead of Ballantyne - purely based on the fact that he would be a part of the team moving forward where as Ballantyne wont be.
Still need some experience and leadership on the field and Mundy/Johnson can provide that, where as Ballas doesn't provide that. Mundy can help organise/teach the midfield and Johnson does the same in the backline.Surely Hughes for Johnson and Mundy for either Langdon or Nyhuis then. Same rationalle.

Ideally Logue learns to become the new Johnson so we have Hamling/Pearce/Logue.
Langdon looks like the guy to replace Mundy (or maybe our pick #5)

I am happy to let him go if we get HoganThat team looks good. I would have Langdon instead of Johnson to add more pace to back line. Hopefully Pick 5 can make an immediate impact.
PS - I doubt Taberner will be in purple next year.
I think Logue progressed well this year and that Hughes was terrific.
Mundy is the player we most need to cover for in this draft I think, and I am less optimistic than you are that Langdon steps in there. If Wilson comes he is a huge part of that releasing Weller and Blakely into the midfield/forward zone. But locking Hughes into that backline is another component of that as well. Nyhuis could be an alternative if Hughes is capable of playing a different role.
I agree with your thinking re Johnson. Ballas & Spurr. I think the backline needs a running defender which where Weller should be. ie Spurr/hughes on the bench. The first 22 is probably bottom of the eight quality. Problem is if we get any injuries the replacements aren't.
Johnson, Ballas and Spurr will play imo, even if we don't think they should. They might not all last the season, but they will get a chance. Spurr may be in some trouble if Wilson does come because Ryan is playing.
Spurr/Hughes Hamling Ryan
Wilson Johnson Pearce/Logue
Hill Fyfe Hill
Bennell Taberner Walters
Matera McCarthy Sandi
Darcy Neale Blakely
Weller Mundy Ballas Tucker/Langdon
That is injuries permitting roughly what I think will turn out round 1.

I think also he needs to let Stevie H settle in one position ie play on the wing opposite his bro. I think forwardline can't sustain Tabener and Sandi/Darcey . it will be a crying shame if Darcey's development is stifled by playing an injury prone 36yr old instead of him for team balance.
Also as season progresses hoping Spurr spends more time at Peel
Yeah he was the one I was missing, was definitely a rudimentary application of this method I was trying out.Tucker?
When I look at our players...my biggest concern is the lack of physical players. Players to lay tackles and provide that frantic pressure that we need. No, not Suban. Really hope we draft two or three inside/out mids capable of bringing some hurt. And guys like Langdon, Tucker, Weller add more to their game.I like this team
Ryan. Hamling. Logue
Wilson. Pearce. Blakely
Hill. Fyfe. Hilll
Bennell. Taberner. Matera
Ballantyne. Hogan. Mccarthy
Sandilands. Neale. Walters
Weller. Mundy. Langdon. Tucker
Note: I just wrote pearce as I'm hoping that Alex is the only one on the list next year
Doing some thinking and I don't think the current team sheet layout accurately reflects a team's talent distribution.

Are we too soft? Have we gone too many outside types? Hill, Hill, Bennell, Matera, Ballas, McCarthy - doesn’t strike me as a forward half capable of locking the ball in for repeat entries and to slow the opposition transition. Sure, mad skills, but often pressure will beat skills ala the GF.
Not really sure - haven’t followed it enough. But someone who can two-way run, win contested ball but also spread from stoppages, and is a solid tackler with elite kicking skills. This shouldn’t be asking too much should it haha. Otherwise just a solid kick will do. Rayner is probably the one, and UDL - but probably gone by our pick. Could Fogarty be a mid? And I kinda don’t mind the idea of Higgins. Could be a 40 goal small forward that goes through the midfield. Meant to be a great student of the game, so hopefully he eats, breathes, loves footy and wouldn’t be a flight risk. Just think we’ve probably drafted too many skinny flankers in the past and it’s coming back to bite us in the bum.I
out of the draft pool who would you have in mind?
Ryan Hamling Johnson*
Weller Pearce Wilson
*Obviously massive injury risk/ form risk but coke finals time I would want him in the side.
I'm happy with whomever is deemed best available.I
