Amazed Zorko won over Beams. Was poor in stretches and can't nail the 'fairest' part of the award.

That 1 extra game played made all the difference. Won by just 1 vote.

As we all know B+F tends to reward durability.

Harbrow has had a very good year in an ordinary side. Always seemed eager to take the game on and make something out if nothing.

Agreed; he has always been a hard runner throughout his career and takes a few calculated risks. Was very good in the few Suns games I watched this year, too.
The Suns version of Kade Simpson.

Interesting tally board for the Lions this year.

Daniel Rich is surely one of the league's bigger underachievers.
Also surprising to see that Hipwood's efforts weren't all that highly recognised.

Ridiculous that Zorko won over Beams. B&F counts throw up some weird s**t, in 2016 somehow Gawn came 3rd in ours when he was clearly our best player, then 2017 sees AA HBF Hibberd place 6th and Lewis somehow gets 3rd???

With all due respect to Adelaide's top 10, the players not in it show why they fell down the ladder.

11 Talia
12 Jacobs (from 22 games WTF)
13 Douglas
15 Sloane, Lynch
21 Walker
22 McGovern
32 Smith

Smith only played a couple games at he end of the year but you forgot to put Betts in there who is past it.

Reminds mme of David Teague 2004 b&f. Horrendous outcome

Weller came third in GC's? With a season like he had?

Lyons and May both outside of the top 10?

Some weird political s**t from Dew and the team.

I’ve noticed over the years, that it’s quite common for players recruited from other clubs to poll well in their new club’s B+F. Maybe there is a subconscious bias at play from the coaches & match committee to overrate the player they traded in and pat themselves on the back for making such a good decision to go after him.

The Hawks have had a few perplexing placegetters over the years. Ex-Bulldog Simon Cox finishing runner up in 2002 springs to mind. The guy was a journeyman receiver/wingman at best. Definitely not our 2nd best player.

I wouldn’t know about Lachie Weller. Did not watch Gold Coast at all this year. (And I hardly watched any Freo games when he played with them!)

Jack Steven, 4 times B&F, Never All Australian. Will poll well in the Brownlow.

Zorko beating Beams is a shame.

I watched virtually every game and Beams was consistently excellent, whereas Zorko had dry patches. Those missed games can really kill you. Beams obviously wasn't able to be 100% available to club demands this season, so maybe he was given more reign to play his own, freewheeling game rather than being shouldered with implementing gameday tactical nous? Stepping up to fill the captain breach (and convincing in the role) can go a bit underrated in these awards.

Brisbane's B&F Top 10 shows the excellent year they had (and relatively healthy list). A lot of stiff players. Compare that to Adelaide's top 10, who were often a superior side but had lots of walk-ins missing games.

Getting my head around Zorko and Steven as 4-time B&F players.

Well done to Harbrow, great story that one of the inaugurals signings is still giving good value, he did have a great year. Along with Rischitelli, was the most sensible signing at the time, and both still in the side. I remember Steven May was out of the side for a couple games, so not surprising really that he missed top 10. Rory Thompson finishing 4th from 17 games might counter that though.

Michael Collica came 2nd in ours. Admittedly we were s**t. The following year played every game and missed the top 10.
