Happy to get Marty Hore as a rookie.

Arguably the best general defender outside the AFL, Collingwood's VFL player Marty Hore is a class above. He possesses a reliable left foot and a kicking efficiency of 79 percent. His intercept marking and contested marking are further strengths, with five games including 10 or more marks and an average of two contested marks per game. The 189cm, 22-year-old is an ideal list addition for any club short one quality defender and is good enough to slip into a best 22 and hold his spot.

Dare I say, he may be better than Quaynor. Different game. Not as athlete or as strong of a physical profile but a far better rebounder/intercepter/kick.

Hawthorns Rookies

Lachlan Young - a stratton type player, very much a defensive minded defender who is versatile and can also intercept and play attacking when needed, a great 3rd tall who can play kpp on non gorillas

Mitch Riordan - a really classy inside mid, surprised he wasnt drafted, when he played for Dandenong he provided a higher level quality than their other mids, every possession he has is impactful imo

i wish i had more picks!!!, others i wanted after the draft was done were - Joe Ayton-Delaney(super under-rated), Jake Gaspar(quality medium forw), Aaron Nietchske, Hudson Garoni, Kyle Reid, Finlay Bayne and Mathew Walker

in the real draft im hoping 1 of Will Hamill, Jack Ross or Jack Bytel slides to our first pick, Xavier O'Neill was a pretty good pick up too

I like him as a potential AFL player, there is stuff to work with there but he needs to improve endurance, tackling and increase his goal output even more. At 25(?) age is really against him unfortunately.
2.5 goals a game is fine. I think his skills and game style is very transferable. I agree with the rest though

That's not a bad comparison. Think Taylor has more upside, but Lennon probably showed a bit more in his draft year. IMO he is a player that some clubs have on their draft boards in the top 15, others have him in the third round.
Was very clear with Lennon that his limitations were not apparent at junior level but stood out and were exposed at Afl level
Speed , Agility and inability to get seperation from defenders and being 188-190 doesnt really give you much space to be effective as a foward. Very few like Stevie j can use their nous to over come these issue's - Taylor would be struggling imo and i personally wouldnt be looking at him before #35

Another draft where Richmond are taking a small forward with their first pick when big bodied midfielders, who are a much bigger need, are on the board in the likes of Valente O'Halloran & Smith. IMO if Richmond could land one of them at first pick and then Foley who they got at the second pick, that would be a much better outcome long term for Richmond.

Totally agree. Smith for me. I have loved watching Valente over the last 2 years so he would also be great but not sure he will still be there. So Smith for me with our first.

Rookie Draft- Luke English 180 cm 76 kg Midfielder Perth FC/WA

Luke is as tough as an old pair of boots and is a blue collar footballer.
Luke's strengths are his endurance running- he came equal second in the combine yo yo and his flat out ability to win the footy. He averaged 23 disposals at the nationals. His defensive actions are strong and he is a brave, committed footballer. He also possesses outstanding leadership qualities and captained wa this year. His disposal by foot is not outstanding and he isn't going to carry the footy very much.
Luke has been likened to Matthew priddis and i also see a bit of matt guelfi in the way he plays.

Draft Summary
Jarrod Cameron gives us an exciting small forward who can kick goals, exert defensive pressure and is better than average in the air for his size.
Marlion Pickett is a plug in and play AFL footballer for mine. He would play round one with a good preseason and he could give a side a tim Kelly like boost.
Riley Grundy is a super athlete who doesn't need to play straight away. He adds key position depth and is a competitor. Getting him at 80 was pleasing.
Riley Bowman gives us some genuine height. Is he going to be a first ruckman at afl level? Probably not but he can be a solid second ruck who can clunk a mark and kick a goal. Nathan Vardy and David hale come to mind.
Luke English will get the best out of himself and will star during preseason. Honest as the day is long the question mark on him is whether he can cope with the speed and skill requirements of the afl.

English was my first choice in the rookie draft. Hansen and sprague were the next two picks.
My next picks were mummery, Richards and Mcinerney who all missed out.

There are alot of decent inside mids available from picks 20-60 and richmond can afford to take best available with the 1st selection
could be Bailey williams or even Ian Hill doesnt matter just take best player available at the pick and we have another 3-4 picks and the Rookie draft to fill in the blanks in the midfield

Worpel & graham have shown there are quality inside players available at later picks as there will be also this year

Im hoping for Bailey Williams with our 1st selection tbh

Love the work you guys have done:
Small thing: Hawks will take Will Langford as their last pick in the rookie draft

Happy with my outcome, Quaynor was bid a pick earlier in the main draft, was a bit later on but nailed the Rowbottom to Swans pick. I got Bytel and Koschitzke in the same ball park and although I took an undrafted player in the 50s with Kemp I managed to get a player I took in the rookie draft in James Jordan and he was taken at pick 33.
