They do not have a better list than anyone bar Gold Coast.

The Bulldogs midfield is miles ahead of Carlton. Fremantle have Fyfe, Hogan, Lobb, Walters and two Hills. St Kilda maybe worse than Carlton but that's still Carlton giving us pick 3.
We shall see. I hope you are right.

They had a ton of injuries.
They have a better team than GC, Saints, Freo and WBs, Brisbane and North could all have an average year.
As I said, I think in all honesty we fininsh around the same as next year (pick 7-8) and Carlton finish 4-5 (pick 4-5). So we give up a late first rounder to move 3-4 places. Would Stocker or RCD with the player we get at our first be better than the one player we would get 3-4 picks earlier than our first? Obviously Carlton think so.
Dont worry, I will front and centre in the 2019 edition of death riding Carlton thread, but we (and Carlton) have taken a punt.
I'm also thinking we'll likely project to have pick 4-6...i'd have you guys finishing higher than pick 7-8 though.

Reckon we must have rated Stocker higher than pick 19...our blokes looked happy in the box.
Then also think we play to trade your first next year for a mature player anyway.

You guys almost couldn't say no to a likely top 5-6 pick, which would be your highest pick in forever. May entice GC to trade Luko or Rankine to you. A pick any higher than 6 probably wouldn't interest them at all.

Having 3 first round picks was exciting.

Feeling a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I don’t know enough about either of our picks to be excited I guess. I wonder where they go if we didn’t pick them? Would anyone have picked either in the first round? I doubt anyone else takes McHenry. Jones probably does.

Reckon Port nailed it.

Oh and we had a clean bill of health did we? We go in with a soft as butter draw and hopefully a stable team with fewer injuries. HOPEFULLY.

Your pessimism is unwarranted.

Ever seen Matt Rowell, Dylan Williams, Cam Taheny, Cooper Stephens, Noah Anderson, Will Gould, Lachlan Ash, Caleb Serong, Brodie Kemp, Lachlan Potter, Hayden Young, Emmerson Jeka etc play?

Nah, I didn't think so.
Bicks Curious, where do you see Daniel Sladojevic going next year, he definitely not a top 5 pick but with his current improve direction he could be a plus 10 pick as he will be a SA under 18 KPF
That would that make this year swap look better. knowing we have him as an Academy pick.

Yes they can ....but do they want to weaken next years draft as well ??
Well we shouldn't be worrying too much about that, Kelly looks to have a lot of upside to my eye the times I've seen him play. Earlier I compared him to an underdeveloped Lukosius game wise and similarly he has a great tank and good athleticism, kicking is not Lukosius level but pretty good just tends to over cook his short passing on occasions.

So you have Carlton improving because they had a ton of injuries in 2018, but reckon we'll we finish around the same though we get Brad Crouch and Brodie Smith back, a full season out of Sloane, plus Walker and Betts not carrying niggles all year?

GWS have an Academy kid who is a jet and possible top 3 in Tom Green.
Plus theres a decent Tassie kid who I have no doubt Hamish wants to draft with Carltons first.
Im going early with that call.
My favourite next year is Noah Anderson. Goal kicking X factor midfielder who accumulates

Top end next year is very good

I expect that Carlton spoke to us before the draft about the deal if Stocker was still there.
Hamish obviously didnt rate him or RCD that much.

Set an example and keep him, like what Geelong did with their 1st year player in Kelly. If he's been at the club for 4-5 years, sure, try to make a deal although he is contracted and get him to a club he prefers but not a 1st year contracted player, GC will want the maximum pick for him from either SA clubs, despite his preference club.
They can set an example but if luko and rankine wont sign on past the 2 years and request a trade back to the crows they are over a barrel

He'd be outside the top 10 by a fair stretch at this point IMO.

Our strategy is that we are very very confident in our list and are backing them in.
I'd argue it's the other way. We're not confident at all in our list, but seeing how weak the league is right now, there is no point selling up.

That what I mean, use our pick 1-5 on best talent then get him at 16 plus or so with a matching bid.
If we kept our current pick I was worried we may have been forced to use it in order to get him, more so if we finished top 4.
