No I think you will find that where West was bid on our next 3 picks at that point in time would have given us just enough points to match. Could easily have traded in another third or fourth rounder anyway.

What picks? The two second rounders would've been gone. Our next pick is (was) currently sitting at pick 57. Our later picks are worthless and are for upgrading Lynch and Gowers.

So basically we would've had just pick 57 to match bids on both West and Khamis which is a massive shortfall. Power did fantastic and hasn't compromised our draft position in future drafts like some wanted too just for a kid at pick 20-25.

Bailey Smith at 7 and Rhylee West at 34 are both fantastic value. Smith could easily have gone top 5 with his talent and if West wasn't a F/S and locked to us, likely would have gone in the late teens, was ranked anywhere from 10 - 17 for most of the year. Very happy with those two so far.

Yep. 57 is gone. 43 is our last pick. so using it on Khamis doesn't make sense.

yep agreed. But we'll need a pick back this year to get him still, which means future compensation will take a hit unfortunately.

We have (as it stands) 37, 43 & 44. Picks keep moving due to academy bids (e.g. Briggs was just bid on).

We effectively traded the Dahlhaus pick down which would have been lost to West anyway for a 16 pick upgrade in the third round, basically a free upgrade.
