I had pick 2 in a 12 man draft yesterday. I was at a birthday so some picks were automated unfortunately.

Picked up Gawn at pick to, traded for Billings and Laird. Whats your thoughts/opinions? who should i try and target. where am i looking weak?

I am trying to get Neale into the team for maybe two of my defenders (not Laird) or a defender plus Hall/Coniglio who would you suggest?

What is the waiver wire?

The order of who gets first dibs on discarded players. Let's say you and I are in a league and someone trades out a player - if I'm ahead of you in the waiver wire, I can trade that player in before you. Someone could also be ahead of me in the waiver wire. Players spend a period of time (can't remember how long) under waiver, and then they become free agents if they aren't claimed. Anyone can grab a free agent.

Not to mention they are the most injury prone position.

Crazy spending on a ruck in the 1st/2nd round IMO.

Not really when you actually crunch the numbers.

(all assumptions, but just to demonstrate)

Say Gawn averages 120 and the next best ruck averages 105. That's a 15 point differential.

Outside of the top 4-5 players its quite common to pick a midfielder averaging 110 and 3 rounds later get someone averaging 105... only a 5 point differential.

I had a priority to get one of Gawn/Kruzuer by the 2nd round. With pick 10 I took Gawn at 11 in our snake draft. If I had like pick 3 and missed the boat on those two then I'd wait until much later on before taking someone as there's 4-5 around the same mark.

For that to happen he would have to have a better season than 2016. With the likes of Nicnat, Ryder and Kreuzer around i dont see there being more than a 5-7 point differential between the first and second top scoring rucks.

More to the point, in an 8 man league the 8th best ruck will average over 95 this season. Assuming you pick the worst ruck in the last round of the draft, you will get a 95 average ruck (Jacobs for example). differential of 20 points between that and Gawn, at the most.

A first round midfielder (115avg)/forward(105avg)/defender(105 avg) would all have greater differentials making them a higher priority. In an 8 man league the worst case M7 should average 90 (25 point differential), D5 average of 80 (25 point differential), F5 average of 80 (25 point differential).

Who are we liking from Free Agency after 1 week? Anyone got any hot tips!?

I've thrown Waiver Claims onto Tim Kelly, Jarrod Berry and Jeremy Finlayson! FA is pretty slim pickings in my 22 player, 10-team league! I've also got the second last waiver so don't love my chances of nabbing Kelly!
