I hope we are able to renegotiate Buddy's contract and pay him something like $2 million this season.

Also Scully's ankle must be well and truly ****** for GWS to give him up for so little.
Something's not right. Doesn't pass the sniff test. If his ankle's rooted what are Hawthorn going to be paying him?

Every non-shenanigans first round pick since Veszpremi:

Lewis Johnston
Gary Rohan
Lewis Jetta
Jed Lamb
Dean Towers
Zak Jones
Oliver Florent
Matthew Ling
Still a few busts in there, but definitely better than the 2000s.

My comment was also more a general statement, but to be fair, it's not based on much more than my own personal suspicions. I could be way off the mark.

Every non-shenanigans first round pick since Veszpremi:

Lewis Johnston - pick 12
Gary Rohan - pick 6
Lewis Jetta - pick 11
Jed Lamb - pick 14
Dean Towers - pick 22
Zak Jones - pick 15
Oliver Florent - pick 11
Will Hayward - pick 21
Matthew Ling - pick 14
Added the picks they were taken at (plus Will Hayward who was also a first round pick in 2016). Only the one top ten pick, and I think the best chance of that pick 6 being a win for us is if Ryan Clarke wins a brownlow. Other than that we haven't had a lot of early picks to play with, but I think:
Jetta and Hayward are the clear wins, Florent and Jones are probably wins,
Rohan and Lamb are losses, but at least are still on AFL lists.
Dean Towers is a loss, but was a very late first round pick.
Lewis Johnston was a clear loss.
Ling I can't judge yet.

Not TOO bad a strike rate after Johnston, but realistically you'd like first rounders to all be clear wins.

you are kidding, right?
I just hate how Hawthorn already have an advantage but other clubs don’t even make them pay for it.
When they do it it is outstanding management, when we do it ..back when we did it...it was an outrage. Also, how is player movement fair when I read players are 'banned' from talking to any other club.

The sicophantic Vic meejah are an absolute disgrace, and the amateurish nature of the AFL really allows them to propagate. Sick of reading wild guesses dressed up as fact, players salaries discussed when there is no knowledge of what they are and their preoccupation with trying to create the news rather than simply reporting on it. Too many little boys in big boys suits running around.

The Scully deal FWIW does come with a fair bit of risk, however it is another example of a player simply wanting to be back in Victoria and using whatever means he can to do it. If nothing else, this trade period has absolutely highlighted the advantages the Vic clubs had whinged so hard to get, Out of it all, it just makes you wonder how far removed the AFL is from say, WWE. The 'sport' in the 'sport' is forever disappearing and the trade period is becoming one of the biggest pantomimes going around.

When they only want to go to Victoria what can we do?
This is really it, isn't it?

I get people bitching and moaning, but there's a difference between throwing GWS or Gold Coast a 4th round pick for Scully and Hall or paying them $600k (hypothetically) to come to/stay in Sydney.
