I'll be so pissed if that's all we get. Why do we keep giving up so much for so little return all the time? We must be the laughing stock of the AFL when it comes to trades.

Can imagine convos going like this.

Club a: we demand a top ten pick
Club b: sorry guys, were fresh out of those
Club a: just ask Sydney
Club b: hey swans, so we need your top pick this year to improve our list while you go backwards.
Sydney: sure thing, would you like fries with that?
Well, to be fair we are going to get a top 10 pick for shenanigans.

It's not like we're not getting talent from the draft.
Heeney, Mills, Hayward, Florent and now Blakey, for a team who consistently finished in the top 8 is a pretty decent crop of young players.

I think people forget we have a distinct rort going in the Academy. We pay for it, but it's still a rort like father/son picks.

Could be a different pick trade too (just musing here)

Adelaide
OUT: McGovern, Pick 20
IN: PICK 13, PICK 28

Carlton:
OUT: Pick 26, Pick 28
IN: McGovern

Sydney:
OUT: Pick 13
IN: Pick 20, Pick 26

+429

(edit: you could flip 26 and 28 for +353)
Relax !

194 points is nothing why didn't we do the Eagles deal 20 and 22 for 13.
Pick 13 is the circuit breaker for McGovern and Kelly.

Now this has been floated maybe WC will get serious realising that their only hope of satisfying Geelong is about to get flushed to Adelaide and pony up 21 & 23 or whatever the picks are for pick 13.

Don't think those two Carlton picks are enough points upside given they could drift out and be worth less come draft night, would need Carlton's pick 20 to be one of the two picks.

For a guy who's not been able to play the best part of two years and looks like one good tackle would break him?
Its all good. The Swans have a gym.

195cm who can play as a tall or as a midfielder. Clean hands at stoppages, athletic and quick for a tall. Strong mark. Good kicking apparently.
Plenty to like.

The Swans have been managing his growing body and taking extreme caution with him I would anticipate.
Mills was similar in that he missed pretty much the whole season prior to drafting.

Wong.

We were 2nd on the ladder halfway during the season. If we had beaten Gold Coast, we would've finished 4th.

The Premiers West Coast, we beat them twice! We also beat Collingwood... Suggesting we were no where near a premiership is foolish.
We were very lucky to be in the position that we were by falling on the right side of the line in very close games, they could’ve easily gone the other way and only a couple of loses more and we would’ve been 10th and beyond. The years we were at our best, and the dominant teams in general, belt teams week in week out with huge percentages, we’re not even close to that. Like I said the comp isn’t that strong there was no dominant force other than Richmond so beating collingnwood and WC was never an impossible task. Id even argue that WC stole the premiership, it was a year where an average team could do it. We can’t rely on the comp being the way it is.

Not all on multi million dollar deals

Might want to put some experience around him is all not just weedy kids who aren’t ready while big bodies leave

I’ll wait til the end of the trade period, but if all we do is shuffle picks , go to the draft and lost Hanners and Rohan then we don’t have much experience left and clearly overpaying a lot of players

We couldn't add experience when Franklin was in his prime thanks to the restrictions imposed upon us.
