NBA, Woodville,
so we have to draft 4, correct? Ronke, Fox senior upgrades, plus Blakey leaves 1 to draft (guessing). With Hanners and Rohans picks to come, can see another deal to have an active pick inth 20's after Blakey and leave pick 99 or whatever for the upgrades.

Minimum 3 with Ronke upgrade counting as a selection.

So Blakey, Ronke and one other. I don’t know if you can count two rookie upgrades.

The suggested pick swap is an interesting play. Can’t see why Sydney would be in a rush to help out with a pick swap unless we have intentions to use the picks elsewhere. If it’s purely for draft points we could have held out longer and pressed for better returns.
It clearly has implications for other deals we are working on, including shipping Hanners and Rohan out.

This whole wait to increase leverage debate is garbage, we will have a plan already in place to obtain points, get Hanners and Rohan off the books and get the other targets in.

With a bid for Blakey expected in the to 10 we had three options with it first round pick.

1. Trade it at for a player, using later picks y to match the bid.
2. Try to use that pick to work out a trade up the draft to try to get a pick in before Blakey.
3. Trade it away for multiple lower picks that gave us more points.

The downside of option 1 is that it would lead to our draft position being severely undermined. We would use all our second and maybe third round picks to match Blakey, meaning any other picks would come very late in the draft. Option 2 is risky because we could still end up having a high bid and having to "waste" the improved pick on Blakey. Option 3 allows us to bid on Blakey and keep a few draft picks within the second round.

We still don't know what we are going to be getting for Hannebery. Maybe it looks like a player will come to us through that trade, hence using the round one pick to improve draft position rather than seek another established player? Best wait and see what happens before riding to judge.

We do nothing, people complain. We do something, people complain. I think there is little that will ever make some people on here happy.
Totally agree and once Moore decided to stay we were always going to use that first pick for a points deal to mitigate having to match Blakey with a first and early second round pick.

Our football department understand the landscape and know exactly what they are doing and do it with a minimum of fuss.

Yep that's pretty much exactly what I just said.

Confirmed trade of Pick 13, we got Picks 26 and 28 from Carlton and Pick 40 from Adelaide

http://www.afc.com.au/news/2018-10-10/threeway-trade-finalised

As part of a three-way deal, the Crows receive pick No. 13, a future fifth-round selection from Carlton and highly-rated Sturt forward Shane McAdam, who the Blues were able to claim as one of their mature-aged pre-draft access picks.

Carlton gains McGovern and a future third-round selection from Adelaide, while Sydney receives selections No. 26 and 28 from the Blues as well as No. 40 from the Crows

Out: 13
In: 26, 28, 40

+623 points

Adding 40 in to the rumoured deal of 26 & 28 certainly makes it much more rewarding and understandable on the Swans side.
I have no problem whatsoever with this. We need to understand that we’re getting an (apparent) Top 7 player for pick 13.
