I don't care where we finish next year in fact I hope the Hawks finish in the bottom half of the ladder and get some good picks.

In the sense that the bottom 6 picks (or a number that the AFL sees fit) should be raffled. So for example if you finished 18th you may get pick one or you may get pick six.The draft still is a lottery anyway.
Bullshit. Clarkson would rather quit than accept that.I don't care where we finish next year in fact I hope the Hawks finish in the bottom half of the ladder and get some good picks.
Agree. Won’t happen at the HawksBullshit. Clarkson would rather quit than accept that.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.Clubs dont only tank to get the number one pick either. I am sure towards the end of the season a bit of tanking goes on just to improve a clubs draft position.
And that's exactly why a club like Hawthorn will probably win another flag before we do.Agree. Won’t happen at the Hawks

Professional clubs like Hawthorn understand the value of every single win. Especially with young players. That wouldn't happen.Nah, if u r sitting in 13th with 4 rounds to go, no chance at the top 8 and players with some niggles, Clarko would absolutely sanction playing the kids and sending guys in for early surgery.
Any club that tanks is sure to go backwards. I've seen it first hand at Melbourne.

The fact it's a lottery as such means that It's a lazy tactic. Recruiters need to do their homework better to be able to identify players at any level.Completely agree.
Clubs should never tank just to get a better position in the draft.
Haha, righto mate....you're one worded responses are so enlightening.Bullshit
It is actually against the rules in the junior competitions (TAC Cup, U16s, U18s) to tag, they aren't allowed to shutdown players.Sorry. You lost me at “according to Champion Data”.
You only rack up stats if the opposition let you.

Ok, that's when they were a basket case. Cue Melbourne 2014. I agree you need to go to the draft at times, but you don't do that all the time. The majority of their premiership players were late picks or trade ins.Ahhh mate, he basically set in plan Hawthorns rise by stripping out the Hawthorn list and doing just that, back in 2004/5.
IMO, the greatest strength of the HFC is their practical approach to problems. You won't find them getting caught up in an endless topping up loop.
You got a better idea?U think we’ll have to just agree to disagree
So you're saying you can't perform a lock down role in U/18s? Why even put that rule in?It is actually against the rules in the junior competitions (TAC Cup, U16s, U18s) to tag, they aren't allowed to shutdown players.
It is what makes it so deceptive when rating the outside players, AFL level would see them sat on by any elite running hack and it would take them out of the game. Meanwhile at TAC cup level he gets 36 touches and 4 goals a game.
I'm curious to know where Tom Lynch of the Gold Coast Suns would rank in this draft. Given his free agency option to enter the draft if Gold Coast both indicate they will match and refuse any trade for him.

Clubs like Melbourne & Carlton constantly hit the draft up for quick fixes. Not advisable.
To be honest, I don't think they're far off.Agree, but I also believe that Hawthorn know the time is now to get the base assembled again.
Interesting. It was in the spirit of free and open play. They also require two forwards to always be inside fifty.
You aren't picking in the best draft in a decade based off needs.
I'm pretty confident at this stage we would take Lukosious or King to pair with Brown if in that position, especially since we will be getting Thomas not long after.
Based on form to date I'd be pissed off with King over Rankine. I wouldn't even be overly happy with Lukosious over him but I could live with that.
Good call.
After all there’s only 348 days until draft night. Unlikely to change much from now.
