We have draft him because we all know a'la Mihocek, Bucks will turn him into a forward and then we get to hear Bruce commentate "Cox... straight down Hore's throat!!!" makes life worth living

Bruce could make a killer commentary combination with Goldsack, Sidebottom, Brown, Crisp, Cox, Hore.

Your Thoughts Knightmare ?

Good for footy in Tasmania.

Good for footy in NSW/ACT and QLD conditional on players still receiving NEAFL opportunities.

Good for overagers if there are more opportunities against u19s competing for draft positions as many of them may struggle for state league opportunities - but it's ideal having them able to play VFL still as per the present structure.

Will be interesting to see how the travel elements goes with the competition. Who will finance it? Will it put off anyone not wanting to travel interstate with most in the competition still completing their schooling and having study commitments.

It's a different dynamic overall.

Time will tell if it's a change for the good or not.

At the moment, it feels like a positive for development. A question mark whether it will increase/decrease the participation rate.

Nathan Kreuger. Fantastic prospect. He was overlooked last year. Stands at 195cms weighing close to 90 kilos. He reminds me a bit of Bont.

#knightmare , whats yours thoughts on him?

I don't believe I got a notification on this. If you leave out the # it should be right next time.

Only by chance I came across this.

Kreuger is a super athlete and was considered unlucky not to get picked last year. Can play KPP or push through the mids even. It's been a real positive that he has stepped up to League level and played the 10 games (17 goals kicked) and held his own.

I've always said with KPPs, and to a higher degree again key forwards. My criteria is production, points of difference and rate of improvement.
Production (formally 0/1 this time last year, now 0.5/1)
Points of difference (0.5) - good athlete
Rate of improvement (0.5/1) - has stepped up to SANFL League level from the u18s and made strong steps in his development this season without taking his production to a level where he is overwhelmingly someone who must be picked.

My rule is:
3/3 franchise player
2.5/3 elite
2/3 clear best 22 on any team

I'm a hard judge on KPPs. Anything less than 2/3 and I wouldn't personally invest. I'm fine in the modern positionless game to go in small as needed.

All that said, Kreuger is worth rookie consideration for a club willing to take the time developing him. It's more an investment you make thinking 'he's developable, but not a certainty to develop.'

Liked him last year! He can do some special things.

On a side note thread title needs a change. As some flat out refuted last year the 2018 draft will not be a “superdraft”! Like any draft there are guys that slide as they realise they will make it on to AFL lists and others bob up.

Let’s take Ian Hill. This time last year he’s a top 5 lock and the latest speculation on AFL.com has him sliding towards the back end of the 1st round. In two months who knows where that’ll be. The theory of any one draft being better than any other is absolute crap because no one knows how these kids will develop in 12 weeks time let alone 12 months.

Rant over.

I would not Take Ian Hill. Massive go home factor

I’m really surprised to hear you say that. He reminds me of Bontempeli. Maybe I’m reading into it too much. But he definitely looks like he has the goods to me.

I respect your opinion TD, but I’d pull the trigger if we rate his talent enough still. I’d say it’s his bodysize that’s seen him drift with guys on the edge of the industry. IMO, you back your system in to turn the go home factor around. It won’t always work, but if you do enough right you get guys like Brad Hill...

If he played more as a mid I might be thinking more Bont, but he's fairly unproven as a mid and hasn't played through there this year. I get where you're coming from in that he is as good athlete - has an unusual fluidity of movement at his height and is dexterous below his knees and can hit the ball at pace. You can work with that.

He'd need to be having 20+ disposal games before I got excited about him like that as a mid. If he did, he would be an attractive prospect.

I wouldn't pick Hill either, though my objection isn't on the basis of go home factor.

He's someone I wouldn't pick because he's a small, low production player who hasn't improved since this time last year. It's the same story as Ben Kennedy at the same age/stage and isn't a formula for success with those types generally not improving.

Does Sidebottom get in that passage of play?

Having an almost confirmed pick now between 16-19 (after GC get there Lynch compo)... the top end talent is well gone.

Makes me think we will either trade it out and reap a player/and or picks from it. This also means that we don't have to use said 1st round pick on Quaynor in the event that someone bids on him with say pick 14-15.

Or Hine might have a relative smoky in mind in the way that Sier and Murphy were in their drafts.

Happy either way so long as we get the extra player/value in before we have to match picks on Quaynor and Kelly. Don't want to have to spend our now late 1st round pick on Quayor.

Seriously just **** off AFL. GC I understand to an extent but Carlscum are reaping what they've sown.

THEY'VE SOWN!!!!!!!!!

Screw them!!!!!!!!!!
