Don't think anyone could make a case for him being NGA eligible. Don't have to be indigenous, IQ isn't, neither is Wraith (spelling). Even A2B2 is of island decent I think.

Both Green and Holt-Fitz are listed at NT Thunder and are draft eligible this year. Be interesting to see what happens. My nephew is playing there but he's not giving me anything about them. Thinking of cutting him from the will.

We obviously never had a claim on Green as he isn't indigenous, and doesn't qualify in any other way. IQ and Bailey Wraith both have a parent who is African, and Atu B. seems to qualify under the CALD Country clause!

15.8 Qualified NGA Players
(a) For the purposes of this Rule 15, a Qualified NGA Player means a NGA Player who:
(i) was born in Africa or Asia; or
(ii) has a biological parent who was born in Africa or Asia; or
(iii) is an Indigenous Person; or
(iv) is a CALD NGA Player,

CALD Country: a culturally and linguistically diverse country being a country:
(a) that is not classified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) as a main English speaking country;
(b) that is not in Africa or Asia; and
(c) is specified by the General Counsel as a CALD Country.

CALD NGA Player: a NGA Player who:
(a) was born in a CALD Country; or
(b) has biological parents who were both born in a CALD country,
and who has been approved in writing by General Counsel as a CALD NGA Player at his or her absolute discretion.

We still have the future second that we can either go into deficit for, or trade for some picks this year that ensure we have enough points should both Quaynor and Kelly get bids in the first round.

We've traded our 2019 first round pick so we can't trade any other (later round) 2019 picks now.

If so I can see us upgrading those two, taking Quaynor and Kelly, and bowing out of the draft. I think that means we only need 3 list spots this year because we went into the year with 39 and we can have 40 on the senior list.

That leaves 5 senior list spots to fill. Mihocek and Thomas to be upgraded from the rookie (noting Thomas is listed on the senior list but pretty sure he was a temp elevation and is actually on the rookie). Quaynor and Kelly to be recruited. And one other list spot to fill which could be Atu B or a random Hine special. I reckon Oxley is also gone so there will be a few spots to fill on the rookie. Broomhead takes one. But there'll be another two to fill. A bit of room for regeneration with some creative drafting. It gives a lifeline to McLarty also which I like!

Yes, we had 39 on the senior list, with 5 Cat. A Rookies and 1 Cat. B Rookie. Josh Thomas was on the Rookie List all season. Since the rules were changed and Cat. A rookies are able to play any time from rd. 1 onwards, without needing to be elevated, they no longer have nominated rookies. Only the Cat. B rookies need to be elevated (during the season) for them to be able to play. They moved Thomas on to the senior list page on the club website when he was elevated mid-2017 (they did the same thing with Cox and Schade at the start of the season) and it seems no-one got around to moving him back at the end of the year!!

I hope McLarty is kept on, I'll be very disappointed if he is released without being tried. I'm sure they'll find a spot for him!

Don’t we have to add Beams and Roughead though? Broomy going to rookie takes one spot so if we want that 3rd pick someone else needs to go.

I’d be looking to find a way to get rid of Murray and pay out one of Crocker or Wills.

As long as we can keep him happy with his contract it shouldn't really matter to him what list he's on, especially as he can still play from rd. 1 next year. Given that list spots are rather precious at the moment, they may keep him where he is for at least another year.

Perhaps we send Wills or Crocker to the rookie list. If someone picks them up they take the contract with them. It doesn't seem right to leave Mihocek on the rookie list to me.
