Fabulous. For some perspective, here’s Twomey’s phantom from last year.

My favourites are his guesses for Stephenson and Murphy. Dude has no clue.

Cheers mate, generally he's not too bad with his predictions but christ he was so far off the mark last year......I can remember him saying that last years first round was the hardest he's come across to predict but just goes to show as Sco pointed out as well, it's obvious that certain clubs give him fukall and I'm glad that appears to be us :thumbsu:

Probably both if he's a utility I'd guess.

This is just what I've noticed so I could be off, but it's relatively uncommon for those junior utilities to stay that way at AFL level. Even for top shelf players like Ben Reid (and even he was recruited as a forward, not a utility), it's a tough task.

So at his height, I guess he would want to be fairly handy as a second/third tall either forward or back, rather than a jack of all trades/master of none. Would be nice to see some footage of him and get a feel for how he plays.

Pretty low risk if we get him as a Category B though. I'm fairly certain the first few years as a Cat B is off the books when it comes to salary cap.

The top 10 being selected was already a painfully slow process but tomorrow night it's going to be excruciating.

Having a draft over 2 days just seems completely unnecessary and has been driven by people like Craig Hutchinson I'm sure.

The only thing that could create any excitement is if there are any pre-planned pick swaps (such as Adelaide trading into the top 5) that the AFL have asked clubs to hold off on to add to the theatrics of the event, and create a real "live trading is here now" announcement.

Wouldn't put it past them, in fact the main reason I'll be watching the first night will be to see whether anything out of the ordinary happens.

If a lot of people are unproductive at work due to listening to crap like AFL Trade Radio for AEG Power Tools, the mark of a tradesman, they'll watch the draft too.

Don't mention it, it's the stuff of nightmares. That said, I'm tempted to pull a sickie on Friday.

Wrong to think Quaynor is a lot like Crispy?

Nothing like Crispy IMO, almost opposite strengths and weaknesses*

Crispy is a ball magnet, with an incredible work rate. He is a perpetual motion machine who never stops running. He is a metres gained king. But his skills are questionable. He is a long kick, but he isn't all that precise and is prone to a howler. He has a tendency to fumble, and whilst he always cracks in, if he is tackled in a contested ball situation he is prone to cough it up..

OTOH Quaynor skills look very good to me. Perhaps even elite. His hands are exceptionally clean. The ball can be bobbing around in a big pack and IQ just goes in there and picks it up, one touch. His disposal skills are really quite silky. The vision he shows is great, his skills in execution is also very good - simply put he delivers the ball to a team mate in a good position, and often very cleverly. IQs weakness is that he isn't a ball magnet. Unlike Crispy who is always busting a gut out there, IQ tends to cruise around the footy field in 2nd gear. IQ is capable of run and carry and shows pretty good pace when he does it, but he only does it occasionally, it isnt a feature of his game.

* all based on checking out Quaynor in 3 games on the internet, so take it all with a grain of salt...Im no expert

Ned Guy is saying there is another player in the draft but he wasnt willing to give anything away that we are keen on. Must be a late pick as early picks will go to Quaynor and Kelly. IIRC this player is a KP player.

Just interested (not doubting you) but where has he stated this?

There might be some merit in going KP heavy this off season (ie: Roughead, Will Kelly, the two Irish lads and this unknown late KP prospect) as Guy was quoted as saying the club doesn't see a lot of KP depth in the 2019 draft.

Here is an excerpt from his speech at the members forum:

"Although we have the 2018 draft in three days' time, we're already looking at the 2019 draft and we don't think that there's great depth in key-position players... (and) we're really confident that the two guys would have been early draft picks," he said.

The two guys he is referring to here are Keane and Tohill. Full article here: http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2018-11-20/pies-explain-trade-rationale

If we took this late tall you would think that due to minimal list spots we would struggle to get Atu B in.

That Crows story about bidding on our boys is just total BS clickbait. It has no basis other than the Crows are apparently known to "keep clubs honest".

Tend to agree. The Crows desperately need to bolster their midfield so not sure why they'd be using their early picks on a HBF type. Just doesn't make sense.

So our off season hall circa 2018 looks likely:

  • Beams
  • Roughead
  • Quaynor
  • Kelly W
  • Tohill
  • Keane
  • late pick?
Rookies:
  • Broomhead
  • Murray
  • late rookie?

Haul even.

I guess the bottom line for us is if we end up with a top 15 and a top 25 talent for a handful of picks in the 40's & 50's then we should all be very satisfied with the result
Plus Beams.
:)
All for that cost (plus next year’s first which should be a high pick anyway hopefully very very late first round line 18 :))

Interesting that the Herald Sun phantom also has Adelaide bidding on Blakey and Quaynor. Suspect there's word floating around that the Crows will bid on a player or two, and the media are desperate not to overlook which one it will be.

Could just as easily be McFadyen with pick 21 for all we know...

Rankine to Carlton keeps on building.
Does rankine deserve such punishment?
Poor thing.

I thought the unfortunate sap going to carlton was Walsh. Poor guy.

Rankine to Carlton keeps on building.

Don't think they can go wrong with any of Walsh, Luko or Rankine. My only concern is whether Rankine can provide the immediate midfield support for Cripps that they desperately need. Maybe they think that Dow or Setterfield can step up into that area. Rankine definitely has some tricks. He and SPS could form a very dangerous combination.

That's fair enough. If our recruiters rate him and take him, great.

It's an interesting case. 191cm, gets over 30 hitouts and apparently can play a bit. Piques my curiosity as something a bit different. Must have a fair leap on him.

I hope Carlton do take Rankine as it keeps Luko out of there. That would be tragic.

Why the concern?

A Hine Special

Because that’s what a phantom draft is? Everyone is guessing before the draft happens, no matter how ‘connected’ they may be. As I said, take a look at his phantom from last year. A few hits, and many many misses. Some of them pretty bad ones.

I guess not worth Reading any Mock Draft as they just are Full of Lies and Nothing worth Reading:rolleyes:

They are not all right but there give possible outcomes that might happen
