Maybe SOS is like these Carlton fans and doesn’t actually understand the trade he made.
WTF are these two going on about? They got a top 20 pick for nothing apparently.....

Yep.Bizarre thinking from those supoorters, but I don't mind the SOS move, good luck on backing themselves in. They obviously rate Stocker really highly and also are backing themselves to improve next year. If they think Stocker is the equivalent of a too 5 selection in next year's draft and think they will move a few spots up the ladder this year, then good on them.

Just went on the draft point calculator and we need Kelly to fall to pick 26 to have the points for him[/QUOTE
Maybe, he knows that he wont still be there for next years draft, so its not his problem.
Except history says it will turn out to be bad for them.Yep.
If Carlton perform a bit better than expected and Adelaide don't really improve much on this year then Carlton have pretty much landed themselves a first round pick for potentially very little cost.
It's no way as silly as some people are making it out to be.
If Carlton finish last and Adelaide finish top 4 then the cost will be big, but on the other hand if Carlton finish above Adelaide then they have got themselves a first round pick this year and improved there first rounder for next.
Time will tell but as much as I despise Carlton I just don't think this trade was as stupid as many are making it out to be.
Can I clarify WTF people were complaining about with the time taken between picks? The draft isn’t a spectacle and after the first 3-5 picks clubs can sometimes need time to assess how the draft is planning out and whether they can move up the draft to bring someone in. If it’s the difference between Mitch Thorpe and Joel Selwood let the clubs have as much time as they need. We saw four clubs take advantage of it last night and there were winners all round!
It’s only the first evolution of it, but I have to stress it isn’t an “event” for the average punter. As soon as the AFL abolishes the rookie draft and restrictions on how far ahead clubs can trade future picks we’ll start seeing more action between picks. Clubs also need to become more secretive with who they’re keen on and stop telling the kids they’ll take them with x pick that’s where the issue really lies.

I think the flaw here is two fold.Yep.

IF bid comes at 24 or 25 will not be a Big Deficit

Sure, I mean they might get to the trade period next year and just hope that everyone forgets they swapped first-rounders with Adelaide. Or maybe they hide all the AFL ladders at Marvel Stadium. Carltank are playing 3-D chess and everyone else is playing draughts. Most likely Carlton are already planning on targeting some high value players in the trade period next season and would have been offering up their 2019 1st and potentially 2020 1st so adding Stocker now whilst still retaining Adelaide's 2019 1st round selection for trade might actually be a more clever strategy than it first appears.
Yes...I was expecting Carlton to press the button within 10 seconds...but to wait until time nearly expired...just illustrates the ‘theatre’ aspect that the AFL are encouraging.Carlton took their full five minutes to use pick 1, did they not? What’s that about?
Oh, SOS... nevermind.
Couldn't agree more. Why should clubs rush such an incredibly important decision? So that Foxtel viewers don't get a bit bored and flick over to Netflix? Let them take as long as they need.
It’s like attending 100 auctions in a day, and you HAVE to walk away with at least three...l
All draftees are minimum $300-400k investments and the draft is essentially an auction. I know when I bought at auction an extra 10 minutes to think on a bid would have been invaluable to prevent me getting caught up in the moment despite all the plans I had before the day.
Adelaide will bid on him with 24 anyway.
25. Less than 10 points won’t move us down in the draft next year.Just went on the draft point calculator and we need Kelly to fall to pick 26 to have the points for him
West Coast owe us a favour anyway.Someone on the draft board suggesting that West Coast will bid on Briggs with 23. That would be a great result for us.
