I don't really get this go home factor as being a reason why you wouldn't pick a player.

To me if he's the player you want you take him. Then it's up to the club to make him want to stay.
If he still doesn't after a couple of years you more than likely get as good if not better compensation.

Agreed Mr Spider.

The go home factor is real but I can’t think of too many that have left us to head back to SA or WA.

Point is Cats paid a decent price to get him in the first place.
He had a gun season & WC offered little more than what the Cats paid for him. I admire the Cats for sticking phat.

I mean for 2020 Geelong are going to lose GAJ and also Kelly. Selwood will likely be going into his last 2-3 years.

They're desperate to somehow pinch a flag in 2019 but reality is they're way off. I think their list is in big trouble.

I agree and it's the lack of developing quality in the 25 and under group that's their biggest issue. They really need the Cockatoo, Ratugolea, Fogarty and Henry types to take the next step. Their best 22 is good but they still rely too heavily on too few and a fading home ground advantage.

My second phantom draft for the year, my first (round 1 only) came before the trade period.

Probably a fairly uneventful draft for Collingwood realistically with Collingwood to nominate and match bids on Quaynor and Kelly.

Will be interesting whether Atu is nominated or not for the national draft or whether the club believes he will be there as a rookie.

I don't think we'll have that many picks in the Rookie Draft either, with Broomhead most likely using up one of them. With Appleby, Lynch, Mihocek (possibly) and one of the Irish players (taking up spots) there may not be any more picks at all. This year we had the 5 Category A Rookies and if they keep it that way for next year most of the spots are as good as taken.

Fairly sure KM would probably give all that up for Lukosious still. Never seen anyone have such a hard on for a draftee.

He was pretty hard for Boyd and Patton when they were in their draft years too if I remember correctly. KPF's seem so hard to pick, they're the new rucks.

Exactly, and I'd even go as far to say that Beams to Collingwood was only leaked by Connors to Barrett to get it into the public.

He only would've done that so Brisbane felt like they had to move on a player whom the entire football public now knew wasn't fully committed.
