Hopefully as a Rookie
We don't have the rookie space because we're committing to Murray and Broomhead.

Appleby
Mihocek
Lynch
Broomhead
Murray
Keane/Tohill

Six is the maximum amount of Cat As. We can nominate Atu as our third (and final) Cat B given he's an Academy player but that would mean he couldn't play until he's promoted to the senior list.

So we have no Rookie Picks?

Well, if we were particularly keen to give someone a chance, we had the cap space and needed the list spot... but I get what you mean and I agree.

You can add Thomas to that group. Whether we have a senior or rookie list place will be determined by how many promotions we have.

I'm comfortable in my belief that Thomas is senior listed now because six is the maximum amount of Cat As a club can have.

Yeah, but Broomy and Murray aren't on our rookie list until selected at the rookie draft, they're currently just delisted. I'm also not sure when rookie elevations are made but they're generally also formalised via the draft processes as far as I'm aware. Thomas is currently rookie listed until these processes play out.

Rookie elevations are supposed to be made by the first list lodgement date I believe, which was 31 October.

Champion Datas Rating of Quaynor below. They have Rankine at 1 by the way.

Last year they had Higgins at 1 and Stephenson at 3.

19. Isaac Quaynor (Oakleigh Chargers/Collingwood)

H: 182cm, W: 82kg

Averaged 419m gained per match at the Under-18 championships, ranking No. 2 in the competition. Can also win his own ball, rating elite in the TAC Cup and championships for contested possessions.

SAM SAYS: Magpies hoping a bid doesn’t come much earlier than this for the defender who nailed a perfect score in the goalkicking test at draft camp.

It's nearly as popular as the Leigh Brown role.
Or the test cricket selectors obsession with an all rounder in the 6 position.

Why not just pick someone who can at least bat, instead of someone who is a very average batsman and even more average bowler....

Off topic but I thought Mitchell Johnson... if he hung around... would've been the ideal number 6. Great wicket taking burst bowler and averaged over 20 with the bat.

Another often mentioned Collingwood role is the crumbing goal sneak Krakouer role... and thought we had the player for that in Kirby... but alas :(

But on the upside we have several players that perform a similar role now...

They don't even care who captains the side anymore....

Okay so I listen to the Age's Real Footy Podcast. It's really informative, unlike the Hun's SuperFooty Podcast.

They just released a special draft episode with special guest Emma Quayle. Emma Quayle used to be a draft expert journo (like Cal Twomey) for the Age who now is the recruiter at GWS.

She obviously played her cards close to her chest but talk came up about Academy players.

She said GWS are quite interested in "a couple" of the Academy players, but also said she expected Nick Blakey to be at Sydney by the time it gets to GWS' first pick at 9. They also have pick 11. Who are the other highly touted Academy picks? Tarryn Thomas and Isaac Quaynor.

So reading between the lines, I would not be surprised if bids for Thomas and Quaynor come in at picks 9 and 11 from GWS.

If they bid 9 or 11 for Quaynor than they can have him

If they bid for him at 9 or 11 we can still nab him can't we? It will just make it a little harder to get Kelly.

Both Tohill and Keane have said they are Cat B rookies. If that's true or not I'm not sure. But that would free up either a primary list or Cat A rookie list spot depending on whether we go with a 38/6 or 39/5 split.

Didn't Madgen play as a Cat B rookie this year? And Cox last year? Or were they elevated at the time?

Emma was so far ahead of everyone else who Called themselves suppose Draft Experrts.

9 and 10 is a Very High Pick and I would not be 100% Certain IF we Match it
