Pretty much and that is same with all Draft Experts in Media.
There seems to be two kinds of draft experts.

One is the experts that are media driven, ie given a brief to represent whoever in the media.

The other group is the experts who go and watch lots of kids play and know them and their play.

(Yes the two groups can intertwine)

So there's 3 groups?:drunk:

How do you know he is Guessing? All in the Media are pretty much Guessing going off what they been Hearing from Clubs and Agents
Because that’s what a phantom draft is? Everyone is guessing before the draft happens, no matter how ‘connected’ they may be. As I said, take a look at his phantom from last year. A few hits, and many many misses. Some of them pretty bad ones.

Would we pick up IQ if a bid comes before pick 10?

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

Probably.
However, do you expect clubs to bid purely to "force our hand"?

Imagine how'd stupid they would look if we didn't match, committing to a player they potentially don't even rate that high outside of a dummy bid.

Which is why no club places a bid purely "for the sake of it".

Father son and zone nominations - we've nominated Kelly, Quaynor, Bosenavulagi and Wraith. If not selected in the ND one of the latter two may become our third category b rookie.

10.1 Rookie List – Establishment and Number

(b) In addition to maintaining the maximum number of allowable Category A Rookie Players on their Rookie List under Rule 10.1, each Club may include a maximum of three (3) extra Players on its Rookie List provided those Players are:

(vi) a Qualified NGA Player of the Club who has been nominated in accordance with Rule 15.8(c) and 10.5.
15.8(c)Rookie Pre-selection If a Qualified NGA Player is eligible to be selected in the National Draft Selection Meeting and is not selected, the relevant Club may include the Player on its Rookie List prior to the Rookie Draft Selection Meeting by lodging Form 34A by the date required by the AFL.

Not sure if it's been discussed elsewhere, but what's the story with Bailey Wraith? A 191cm ruckman isn't going to get it done AFL level. I see him listed as a utility. So where would he play? Defence? Forward?

He has Adelaide bidding on everyone!

I just had a look and that’s bizarre! Although their list management strategy has me scratching my head anyway because I’d be trading up to pick 3 to get Rankine. There’s no way I’d be doing a “Jason Cripps” and targeting him two years from now. Double dipping never ends well!

Fair enough Dave. I'd personally be happy to throw in pick 60 to move up from pick 13 to pick 10.

I believe TD is struggling with the concept of the value we’re getting with IQ and Kelly.

For reference TD the only bid the club would consider not matching on IQ is one that comes in before he’s rated on our list and I’m tipping that’s inside the top 10.

IMO, there’s absolutely no point in passing on IQ even if he’s bid on in the top 5 because the quality of our live picks just isn’t there. Look at it as a trade would you trade a top 5-10 pick for a bunch of picks 40+? I know I would. Every day of the week!

Holy hell, I actually agree 100%.

The draft is seriously diluted with the two day thing. A lot of people won't care for the top ten unless their club is involved. Then come Thursday night the media vultures will already know who's going 11, 12, 13, etc.

I checked the draft guide and it has round 2 onwards starting at 12pm Friday. Thanks a lot AFL. Now most people get to miss 80% of the draft due to work.

The top 10 being selected was already a painfully slow process but tomorrow night it's going to be excruciating.

Having a draft over 2 days just seems completely unnecessary and has been driven by people like Craig Hutchinson I'm sure.

So now the wait to see where we get Quaynor has turned into a wait to see how badly Adelaide screws us over?

The next 24-36 hours should be fun (and salty)... :D

If a lot of people are unproductive at work due to listening to crap like AFL Trade Radio for AEG Power Tools, the mark of a tradesman, they'll watch the draft too.

The AfL wanting so badly want to
Make it like America.
Different audience, smaller draft numbers of picks.

And their real first agenda occupy the news cycle all if first day Thursday into Friday the top round; then the rest to take the weekend news cycle.

Zero chance we pass on Quaynor and Kelly unless the points deficit is so great that under the AFL rules we can't take both and that would appear a unlikely scenario.

And why would we when we have no 1st round selection in 2019 and bypassing Kelly who is expected to attract an early to mid 2nd round bid in preference to retaining our 2019 2nd round selection means we have to wait a further 12 months to get a quality prospect into our system.

Nup.

I fully expect Quaynor and Kelly to be Collingwood players come Friday afternoon.
