At what pick will we be safe in terms of not going into a points deficit?

e.g Doesn't matter now what pick Kelly is selected or Pick 25?

Pick 25 will see us avoid a deficit. If Rhylee West recieves a bid now though, we’ll be safe regardless of where Kelly gets bid on.

If next years draft is seen as being a weak one by Carlton and Adelaide fail to bounce back (Gibbs, Betts, Jenkins, Jacobs, Walker all aging so not an unreasonable proposition) then this trade may not end up being as bad as it appears on paper.

It's gamble he has taken.

Probably feels the list is ready to mature and move up the ladder, might also feel that Adelaides fall will continue.

Not sure I'd be brave enough to take this gamble with that clubs recent history.
