GC wont take the King twins.

Too risky to draft 2 talls. They have some decent tall talent already as well.

If they get a pp in round 1 then they will select atleast 1 mid.... maybe 2.

I think atleast one King will slip the top 10.

Two metre Peter is a decent tall to build a forward line around.

The Suns are looking likely to get picks 2 and 3, IMO they will take pick 2 to the draft and trade pick 3 to the Crows for their 2 first round picks (currently 7 & 12) and guarantee the Crows they will leave one of Lukosius or Rankine for them at pick 3.

The Suns will then take Walsh or Smith and go for 2 more mids at 7 and 12. It is also possible that one of the King twins slides to pick 7 if they are interested.

Even if we end up with pick 4-5 after Lynch compo we could still get Smith or Walsh.

FYI Stephen Conole is the guest on this week's road to the draft podcast.
Thanks for the tip Tom, some of the content-

1) Stephen Conole expecting a bid on Connor McFayden in the 2nd round somewhere.
2) Casey Voss has been really solid.
3) Zac Bailey gone back to the NEAFL as he was getting a bit tired.
4) Alex Witherden's natural progression will see him move into the midfield.
5) We still need strong midfield depth.
6) At our first pick we will not be looking at a type of player, we will be taking the player we rate the highest who is still available. Even if we see us as being strong in that area of the ground.

4) Alex Witherden's natural progression will see him move into the midfield.

I'm interested to see this. I can't help but feel we'll see what happened with Rich - it'll shut down his main weapon (the long kick) because of less space available.

Yep, Conole did add that Alex along with Cam needs to work on his aerobic capacity to play a more permanent mid role.

My ears pricked up more with point 6, I hope that doesn't mean we could take one of the King twins, I'm not a fan.

I think it more means we will be willing to take Lukosious (no idea how its spelt) if he is there.

I think it's sending a message if Luko is available don't expect us to pass on him and select a mid. Come at us with a godfather offer if you want him.

Yep, that’s the play.

I think Witherden’s skill set is very different to Rich’s. Witherden doesn’t need the same set up time as Rich and is prepared to find a teammate in traffic. Rich naturally got sucked into contests whereas I’d imagine Witho will be more a receiver.

The engine and agility are the biggest concerns for me.

He's looking very Heath Shaw-ish to me at the moment, not sure I see how he could be of more value further up the ground. Seems like he's already pretty dangerous when he can get 20+ kicks a week off half back and hurt the opposition with those kicks.

His ability to win his own footy would be my biggest concern. Love him and what he brings but he plays like private school boy living off his dad's riches.

I can actually see him as the back line General. Taking over from Hodgey in a couple of years.
Him and Harris as the leaders of the backline for years to come.

Conole did also add that moving in to the mid may not be the best thing with Alex being such a strong user of the falloff the back line.

My initial thought was Izak Rankine, and that we currently have a decent crop of small forwards and half forward flankers. Then I thought if Lukosius slides to 3 (currently) then we'd call his name out. Not for a second did I entertain the thought of one of Kings at our first pick.

At the start of the show Conole did mention 3 players who he thought was at the top end of the draft, Lukosius, Rankine and Walsh.

I am praying the crows lose on the run home and we are the team that they secure one of the SA boys.. We could get some serious booty from them as the love of drafting SA players is very strong..

I’m thinking their 2 firsts this year and second next year for our pick and a future third..

We can add some serious talent to this squad by holding the crows ransom..

I smell a Taranto for Mcluggage and Berry type steal on the cards!!

I don't. We're not moving back one spot if we trade with the Crows. We would be moving out of top tier of talent and in to pick 8 to 12 zone depending Adelaide's finishing position and matching bids Thomas and Blakey.

We would give up any chance of drafting Lukosius, Rankine, Walsh and Smith, as well as which ever of the King twin is drafted first. Count out Tarryn Thomas and Nick Blakey as they are tied to other clubs.

That leaves one of Ian Hill, the other King twin, Connor Rozee, Jackson Hately or Curtis Taylor/Jye Caldwell/??? to pick from. And if the pick is pick 12, we really are picking from the second tier/third tier of kids available.

I'll admit I have a very big anti King bias in my uneducated rankings. I have a clear top 4 in Lukosius, Rankine, Walsh and Smith, and I have reservations about Rankine because of a perceived go home risk.

After those four I have little love for the next tier of players and would rather either Rozee or Taylor if we didn't have a top four pick. If a club in the 6 to 9 range (discounting Adelaide) wanted to trade up for one of the Kings, if we held pick 5, I'd strongly consider it, if they had a late first or early second send back our way, but none of those clubs currently do.

Rankine, Walsh, Smith, Lukosius then daylight. Understand everyone's concerns with Rankine but we've got three indigenous boys on our list already. Mitch Robbo is good friends with Eddie and more than half our list are 23 and under so surely some people to connect with. I say back ourselves in if he's still there out of those 4.
