At the time Aish was considered a steal at 7, and it was a no brainer that Weitering/Schache were the top 2 picks in '15. Shocking results in the end, but neither were bad picks at the time.

When Jack Watts was taken #1 by Melbourne in 2008 he was the consensus standout as the top pick(although Nicnat was in the discussion too if I remember)

Was an interesting draft with quite a few busts and also some of the proverbial diamonds in the rough.

There's undoubtedly more research done and science attached to it now but there's still an element of luck.

Seems we all agree that we'd rather win and move up the ladder than to lose and get a slightly better pick.

I'm firmly in that camp.

Wins build confidence and club culture.

Having an eye to top draft picks year after year has the opposite effect

100% winning culture is far more important. Look at what happened to Melbourne and Carlton. Besides pick 4 or 5 may land us the best player. Dusty & Judd were 3. Oliver and Bont were 4 or 5.

Also we nailed post first round picks in 2013 - Gardiner,McStay,Taylor,Robertson.

I think in previous years we have tried to be too clever and avoided the obvious picks such as Darling. If those guys from 2010 were still with us we may have passed on Berry
Ooohhh! What about poor ole Cuts?

Nope. Personally I'd still prefer for this one last year we finish as low as possible and have a better chance of getting the kid we want. We've shown enough to see we are on the right track.

If we finish below the suns then it's clear were not on the right track

I wouldn’t quite say that!

Need to remember we've had a golden run with injury. We deserve to be in the same group as Freo, the Saints and the Bulldogs and leaving the two rabbles; the Suns and Carlton behind.

Most of the stats suggest we should be in about 13th I reckon.
We have had 3-5pt losses a 7pt and a 14pt loss, if we had of won 2 of those 5 then that is where we would be.
We have had a better season than our position on the ladder.
But we have had a good injury run, yes!

Liam Stocker. Heard great things. Anyone seen much of him as of late in the TAC Cup?
He has been getting some great reviews on the DT&FA board lately. Probable first round selection, reads as a great type, I haven't even seen any vision of him yet.

He may be THE late riser this season, our pick 5-6 a possibility?

Where abouts Jason? I just went over to ask some of the regular TAC watchers about their thoughts.

Check this kid out playing is 3rd vfl game, he was unbelievable!! His name is Tom Jok, will get drafted.

He played TAC cup in 2016 and wasn't drafted then. Hasn't been spoken about much in mature age discussions.
Was very impressive on the weekend. Has developed nicely but still probably needs to put 5-6 kgs on. Has great hands, is evasive and has speed to burn. I think he'll get drafted; definitely rookied, but huge chance to go in this draft in the 40-60 range.

I watch a bit of VFL here and there but it’s not a priority of mine. eth-dog or Yoda_ might be able to help out if anyone’s interested in learning more about him.
