Some guy rang in SEN this morning (during the "Whately" segment) raving about this Jok guy

That wasn't you was it?
No mate not me but Ive seen him play twice this year and he has some serious ability. His frame needs bit more work. Has the best hands of a rookie in VFL I've seen for some time.

I watch a bit of VFL here and there but it’s not a priority of mine. eth-dog or Yoda_ might be able to help out if anyone’s interested in learning more about him.
Jok? Good size and speed from my limited viewing of him, but needs to find the pill more. Callan Wellings is the one from Collingwood for me.

I'm firmly in that camp.

Wins build confidence and club culture.

Having an eye to top draft picks year after year has the opposite effect
I agree, looking for top draft picks and loosing constantly just means they go out the back door when they get the chance (Suns) I with you, winning to me closes the back door and players want to stay.

Jok had plenty on the weekend, it was only his 3rd vfl game, hes growing in confidence. Marty Hore also very good off halfback, woukdnt be suprised if he gets a rookie spot at seasons end.

He had 16 touches. It's pretty solid but hardly "plenty". There's a reason he's been on and around VFL lists for 3 years and has only just managed to crack a game now. He's got talent, but I'd be surprised to see him drafted this year, if he has a consistent season next year he might. Goy Lok from Casey has similar attributes and has been much more consistent this season, and even then I don't think he gets drafted.

Hore's an interesting one. I would love to see him drafted but I've seen players have better seasons than him in weaker draft crops go undrafted. My top prospect is definitely Josh Corbett, he's the best prospect in the VFL since Barlow IMO, if someone needing a 3rd tall forward with a pick between 30 and 50 don't pick him they're making a huge mistake. Sam Collins probably gets another life, I suspect the Pies will snap him up given the likelihood of Dunn and Scharenberg missing most of next year and Moore leaving.

Giants recruiting manager Adrian Caruso on Road to the Draft podcast today on Cameron Rayner.

If he was in this years draft he'd be the player with the biggest upside, the same as he was last year.

Callum Twomey- Rayner would be easily top 3 if in this years draft.

:D

Now thats very debatable, id take Walsh, Lukosius, King x2, Rankine, Blakey ahead of him with Rayner slightly ahead of the next few in Smith/Rozee/Thomas

Rayner has shown some terrific glimpses this season, he's actually been better than I thought he would be given the widespread knock on his endurance, has played every game.

I wouldn't trade him for pick 1 this year.

Rayner has started as expected for me, his disposal numbers are higher than expected though so thats pretty promising.

Nah and why would you, im the same with McGrath i preferred Taranto in that draft but im still content with the player we got and wouldn't even think of trading him.

I don’t really understand trying to rank where a player taken 12 months earlier would have fallen in this draft. So much has happened since then. Swings and Roundabouts.

I assume it's as a way of gauging the strength of this draft against last years. If there's half a dozen in this years draft that you believe will be better than the best from last years draft then it would indicates the top end is pretty strong.

And funnily enough, only one of them has played 18 games of AFL footy, kicked 17 goals and received a rising star nomination. The others have a doughnut in every column.

Just a bit of fun cotter, no more no less than filling in a bit of time, I could talk about all things Lions and AFL all day, some of it inevitably turns out to be inane gibberish much like a fair percentage of BF postings.

Is it a lock that Lynch will even be on enough coin for Band 1 compensation ... might he only get them Band 2?
Lock it in Eddie. The AFL have the option to give them band 1 even if they don't reach the $$ threshold, IIRC there is a clause in there that gives them some discretion when reaching PP decisions.

Rocky was borderline band 1. Would be safe to say Lynch will be on more.

Plus the AFL needs to look after the Suns and if it was only band 2 they’d match.

Lock, yes. $1m+. Not $700k/yr.

Even at Richmond?

*nods* if he wants to join a team that is fully fleshed out and paying good players good money and with a good culture he can but he can't do that *and* be the highest paid player there ... there is a tradeoff depending on what he is looking for. If all he wants is money then stay at the Suns and take the ambassadorship ... if he wants Melbourne and money then I believe North has a cheque book looking for a friend ... but if he wants good culture and success then he will need to 'pay' for it in some fashion.

Watch the game if you get a chance they were 16 good touches, couple of hangers, some really nice contested marks, evasive play and bursts of speed. He has some attributes coaches salivate over. Buckley was there sunday and liked what he saw.

Another VFL key forward to think about is Nick Rodda from Williamstown. I think he may get drafted aswell. Very good all round player. 23 readymade.
