Carlton are a chance to knock the doggies off at Etihad next week I reckon. If they win today and beat the doggies next week, Gold Coast will have pick 1 and 2 most likely. Doggies should win though realistically.

And Freo will win today

Rumours of three teams getting priority picks were slightly off the mark. If 3 priority picks are given, should probably be one to the Suns & two to Carlton.
The three priority picks are for Gold Coast, St Kilda and Brisbane to pick three lucky players to get the hell out of Carlton.

Will Martyn the standout for me, don’t mind the big lad Ryan aswell he is already 203cm. Hammond is a spoiling machine and Reville is a good mover

Some good performers on the weekend:

Thomas Green (NSW/ACT) 27 disposals, 7 marks, 10 tackles, 5 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 3 rebounds, 2 goals
Liam Delahunty (NSW/ACT) 23 disposals, 7 marks, 1 tackle, 2 clearances, 7 rebounds, 0.2
Ashton Crossley (QLD/GC) 26 disposals, 7 marks, 5 tackles, 4 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 7 rebounds
William Martyn (QLD/Brisbane) 16 disposals, 4 marks, 11 tackles, 4 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 1 rebound, 2 goals
Josh Gore (QLD/GC) 14 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 1 clearance, 1 inside 50, 1 goal
Connor Budarick (QLD/GC) 14 disposals, 3 marks, 8 tackles, 2 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 1 rebound

Some Vics who impressed - pretty much all the fav's here - HedgeFund Darcey Chirgwin was good, Bicks Mitch Martin and Izaac Grant impressive. Really like Fraser Phillips and Flynn Perez with that 'touch of class' they have. Josh D'Intinosante was great, Mitch Mellis keeps providing, Lachlan Potter's speed fantastic. Hugo Ralphsmith and Miles Bergman were both pretty good as well.

Wow, Knightmare now has Connor McFadyden at 9 in his power rankings.

With this, and you blokes being Red-Hot on Walsh (a Lions fanatic growing up) surely you would be looking to upgrade Pick (4-5 likely at this stage) to Pick 1 to secure Walsh, plus grab a few 2nd rounders for points for McFadyen?

Walsh doesnt last to pick 4/5. We can take that as a given.

If Adelaide get pick 1 off us, presumably you guys would instead be looking for pick 2 (surely the Crows take Lukosious at 1).

What's the thinking around this on here among you blokes? Worth it to upgrade your 1st rounder to get Walsh, or not?

We don't expect a bid on McFayden before our second rounder.

We expect to have pick 5 and I think most would be happy to trade up.

I'd rather Bailey Smith or Izak Rankine.

Then again, if I was Carltons list manager I'd prefer Bailey Smith ahead of Sam Walsh. So to if I was Gold Coast.

Surely there would be concerns around Rankine and the 'go home' factor? He's also the kind of player, that if he isnt settled, is quite likely to be a bust. I see him as the biggest risk v reward player in the draft (and I rate him highly, as the most talented in the draft, but also with the biggest red flags attached).

I honestly would have thought you guys would have a hard on for Walsh being an absolute Lions tragic growing up.

Especially with Rockliff leaving last year, and Beams a chance of seeking a trade; an extra gun Midfielder would be pretty high on the agenda wouldnt it?

I dont watch too much of you guys being a WA supporter of Carlton (it's all Freo and the Eagles over here) but to me it just looks like you guys would be super keen on Walsh as your number 1 target.

I don't think you'll find too many who don't want Walsh, but most think it's probably unattainable so are limiting expectations. Think in all likelihood you guys will take him at #1, and even if not I can't see what currency we'd have to get the Gold Coast to trade away from a player who's such a highly rated leader (what they desperately need).

There has been some discussion about the concept of moving up - but right now if we lose on the weekend we may just end up with pick 2 ourselves and then the discussion is about taking whoever we prefer that Carlton doesn't (which feels kind of familiar!) vs some suggesting being the ones that another team trades up for.

You can't invokd the go home fact, this hysteria was misleading last year, and the reason many would have rejected Rayner.Rankine and McFadyn would be two great first picks.Rankine is a matchwinner, and exactly what we need

Purely hypothetical...but if beams left to Essendon for pick 10, what about 5 and 10 for 1 and 19?

That trade would suit us if Walsh was our target. I would be working with Essendon to come up with a top 5 pick for Beams or we just keep Beams. The top 5 prospects are elite and then it tapers off abit. I would rather get 2 of either Smith, King twins, Lukosius, Rankine then Walsh and a end of first round prospect.

As nice as it would be, there is no way Dayne Beams is worth a top 5 pick. Pick 10 is probably pushing it to be honest. 15 feels more around the mark of a fair trade at this stage of his career.
