Pre draft yep...not what was being discussed today after initial picks//
The fact that he goes on to say that "some clubs have claims to a draft pick after the first round (pick 19 onwards) but not before" makes it clear that there will be no PPs in the first round.

"AFL has clarified" would also make you believe that it is all but official, nothing on afl.com though yet.

Well no, technically the priority pick used to be awarded before your existing pick, not after.

People need to calm down. They were never gonna give Carlton and Gold Coast extra picks at the start of this draft.

Yes.. used to be awarded before..what they are talking about on radio today was immediately following their first pick...technically the same
instead of getting one at pick 19 or 20, it’s gonna be front ended to follow their first pick

There’s “strong word” the AFL will hand Carlton and the Gold Coast priority picks at the start of this year’s draft,
It would leave the Blues with picks 1 and 4 and the Suns 2 and 5.
The Suns are also likely to be handed pick 3 for Tom Lynch as compensation for his departure.

But somebody suggested it and there was strong word and the AFL was thinking about it according to Landsberger, Clark, Maher and Warner

Jumping. At. Shadows.

Dunno I have a strong feeling the Priority Picks will be awarded Mid draft directly after the top 10 prospects...The Lynch Compensation pick will be directly following the Suns pick.

Result for us is the same either way in that case.

You're right on the Mark Evans comment earlier... All systems go on getting a quick fix for the Suns..

Warner's example is picks right at the start of the draft, otherwise it would be Carlton with 1 and 2, and GC with 3, 4, and 5.

Way I read it and others talked on radio today is Picks 1& 2 are normal draft selections, Blues, Suns followed by pick 3 -the suns compensation (the formula awarded for a CP at best is after your 1st round pick - never known to be awarded after a pre-draft priority pick- http://www.afl.com.au/afl-hq/the-afl-explained/free-agency) then the PP's same order ...technically it's the same as PP's being awarded at the start of the draft...it's still before other clubs selections and at the start of the draft..

Having not really seen a great deal of Max King much before, I came across this tonight and am very impressed.

If we end up with #5 and Rankine, Lukosius, Walsh & Smith are gone, I wouldn't have any problems with us taking the punt on him there. ACL adds a bit of risk, but what Max showed in that one match there is probably better than anything Lukosius has shown all year so he seems a serious talent.

He’s about 15cm taller than his opponent

Honestly, it looks to me just like shocking defending. You can’t play on a guy twice the size of you from behind. He looks more mobile than the other 2m forwards though.

I know Jay pretty well and he is saying very big Chance of these priority picks being awarded at the front of draft to Calton and Gold Coast. He also genuinely believes lions would be pretty aggrieved by process if that was the case based on super draft and fact we got end of first round 2 years ago when our list was in just a bad possision and mad exodus’s of players . Fact at end of the day AFL is run by bunch of muppets who have no other agenda then their own and they can accept was is only tolerated in wider afl
Community . We need to hope
All other 16 clubs kicks up a massive stink about these priority picks.

Nah, it won't happen. Not worried.

I think it shows the quality of journalism we footy fans have to deal with. One person says it and then half the footy world grabs it and reports it as likely to happen.

I think the AFL is playing journalists like fiddles. Getting everyone in a tizz about priority picks at the start of the draft so that when they eventually put them after the non-finalists, no one complains.

This should be fantastic, but surely it is a MASSIVE conflict of interest allowing Kelly and TLA to be involved.
That was my first thought in general, but given how poor the AFL's track record has been in managing this kind of thing I'd almost rather someone with skin in the game to be massively involved.
