I'm predicting that next week is going to get ugly, similar to last year vs. North at the Gabba.

I'm actually blown away by some people's reactions in regards to last nights game and where we will now pick. Barring PP at the start (please god no) we were all saying pick 5 weeks ago as we assumed correctly that we would win (ugly or not). To be quite frank I am actually a bit amused on the supposed holy trinity of 'Walsh, Lukosius and Rankine'. Nothing is a given and the odds are likely that they will be good players but give me a break. Eventhough I am hoping to get Bailey Smith at our pick if we don't then there are others that I hope we get and that will add to our team. We might even trade our first pick for a player or move back for more picks. There are players rated in teens that I would be very happy to get. Last year's first 3 picks look likely to be good players (Rayner will be a gun) and for me it's always looking at the collective of who draft.

The AFL won’t give PP at the beginning of round-1, it will be after round-1. GC will get compo pick for Lynch. So it will be:

4. Saints

With our first pick we have to take the best mid available and preferably one with some toe. You can always do with more pace into the side.

Couldn't care less about dropping from a likely pick 2 to now a pick 5, there will not be multiple PPs at the top of the draft. Nearly certain to end up as braddsey post above. I also agree with jasonrampage2010 there's a small chance the Saints beat the Roos next week and we get pick 4.

At the moment I can see a few scenarios re how draft night could turn out, IMO.

1) Blues- Jack Lukosius/Sam Walsh.
2) Suns- Sam Walsh/Bailey Smith.
3) Suns- Max King/Jack Lukosius.
4) Saints- Izak Rankine/Bailey Smith/Max King.
5) Lions- Bailey Smith/Izak Rankine/Connor Rozee/Jye Caldwell.

I'd be happy with any of those options for us.

Walsh Rankine smith and lukoscious all seeminginly out of reach now . I think it’s gotta come down to Caldwell or a Rozee type . Really think whoever is more contested probably suits better to provide better with support . Smith was inside and Outside but doubt he is there

I doubt Caldwell would be in contention for pick 5, especially as he has been out injured so much recently. Like almost everyone I expect Jack Lukosius/Sam Walsh to be the first 2 picked, probably Max King the 3rd. jason pm I think you are right that we take which every one of Bailey Smith/Izak Rankine/Connor Rozee that St. Kilda don't pick. Probably Bailey Smith.

IF we picked up Wallis through FA, does it change the type of player we draft given Wallis should become our starting inside mid? If so then I think we pick either Rankine or Rozee.

But once PP's, trades, U18's etc. are all said and done, who knows what the landscape will look like

Just seemed like a win without a purpose we were flat , players looked flat . It was a rubbish match , all we did was slip from the top elite draft picks perhaps , nothing gained . Pick 5 will bring a high quality player accepted but maybe not the player of a generation that picks 1-3 could do if you believe the experts

Let's hope someone slides or smith or rankine are still available at our pick
Just left a bit flat after that game next week and we do it all again , give the Eagles a taste of Gabba hell.

We have a few third tall forward/contested mid types in our U18’s & U17’s.

I don’t mind looking if we end up with an outside type with our first pick.

I do call BS on a Carlton Priority Pick at the start of the draft. That will be a disgrace. The Suns will get an early compensation pick and that should do it. Priority picks should be coming at the end of the first round.

As for our selection in the draft. There will be plenty of good talent there for us. We'll probably be sitting back stoked that the bloke we wanted slides down to us.

I'm all for mids, Xavier Duursma, Chayce Jones, Liam Stocker and Luke Valente however I can see the club use it on Jordan Clark and wouldn't have an issue as expecting Witherden to be the only one by foot to deliver out of the backline creates issues. I don't try to focus on just one player at that range.

Don’t forgot we have just signed Irish recruit James Madden who has broken the 20m combine and agility all time record. He was chased by at least half a dozen club ms and has come to us. Whilst he will need to hone his craft when you have elite speed and agility like that it just buys you time to make
Decisions. Reckon could be a serious player . On another note what are people’s thoughts on Mayes . Would Gold Coast or Carlton be interested at all if we packaged him and pick 5 IMO a
Deal or does he have no currency anymore ? Surely a solid body at Carlton or gold
Coast with elite foot skills would

Loving those names. Would love another pick anywhere in the 12 - 21 range.
