Ideally I’d take:

5 for Ross and their 2nd rounder.

However, I think we would have to swap next years second for their next years third. In the end, we get Ross and two back to back picks in the early 20’s. This allows us to possibly take Berry and also another project flaked or inside midfielder.

Both flankers and inside mids can be discovered at these picks very easily. Rockliff was a rookie pick and Witherden was around there. I’m confident we’d make the right choice when drafting there.

Saints don't have a second rounder. The only have 1 pick inside the top 50 this year and it's the one ahead of our first pick.

I’d probably do pick 5 for Ross and Steven.

Wallis, Stevens, Ross, Zorko and Beams if he stays looks pretty good to me.

If Beams went, I’d certainly do it for pick 5. Ross is getting criminally underrated by a lot of posters on our board.
Saints fans wouldn't. Talk of pick 5 and next years 2nd for Seb Ross.

Just had a quick squiz on the Saints trading page. Lol. They seem to think crazy Vossy & I don't give a shit anymore so lets give anything a crack Gubby Allen are still in charge of our list management, trading & recruiting.

Not sure where I said I don't rate him. And I'm the first to admit I'm no expert, just a fan with an opinion.

If he's thereabouts when our second round pick rolls around, he's on a short list of players I'd be keen on there. He's probably got more chance of still being there than the most of the other players I like for our second.

My only possible concern with Thomas is that injuries have already taken a fair toll on his young body. But that also works in our favour, as Berry hasn't been able to put together a consistent year and climb up draft boards, and may have slipped on some draft boards.

Oh, and what BangyBangy said.

p.s. Sam Walsh and Thomas Berry would probably be many Lions fans dream draft. But we'd probably have to trade our 2018 & 2019 first round picks, to genuinely have a chance of prying pick one from Carlton to guarantee Walsh, and hope our second round pick doesn't get pushed much father back that pick 25* after GC's compo picks and two end of first round PP's are factored in.

*I'm not so much concerned about it being pushed back by clubs matching academy and FS bids, just other possible compo picks.

Saw both Sam Walsh and Tom Berry in action on Saturday at Mars Stadium, Sam Walsh had yet another blinder and was clearly B.O.G against the Calder Cannons while at 3/4 time Tom went in and came out with the pink runners gear on and was one of the GWV Rebels runners for the last quarter. ;)

I saw one poster comment on Tom's Championships, he's probably not aware Tom went into the Championships off a very limited prep having only played 1 TAC game in the previous 6 weeks after his collision with the point post at Mars Stadium early in the season. Of the 5 TAC Cup games he's played he's been in the best players every game.

Bicks was Berry carrying an injury during the Champs? and who made the call to play Berry in the back line?

The unreasonable Lions posters think Ross is worth a 3rd rounder, the unreasonable Saints posters think Ross is worth early first and second round picks. Take the average and he's worth a pick in the second half of the first round. Which I think is about accurate.

Or 2 early to mid second round picks instead.

I would put him in a similar bracket to what we got for Redden.

Feels about right. We got pick 17 for Redden. I see a fair comparison between the two, despite their different strengths and weaknesses, as a solid midfielder who's not likely to be a real star.

He was in the all Australian squad last year and won their best and fairest in a season they won 11 games. He's a bit ahead of Redden

And West Coast probably paid overs for Redden.

Don't know, possibility considering he went straight in for surgery after the Champs and won't play again this season.

The Vic Country coach Matt Battistello and Talent Manager Lee Fraser apparently, the thinking behind it was with Tom's top end speed and agility he would be suited to play on dangerous small forwards like Izak Rankine and Ian Hill etc, poor decision IMO with Tom's natural speed and attacking nature being his outstanding assets. Makes no sense to me play a lad that had been playing midfield with stints forward as a lock down defender on small forwards.
