I hope not, dont think he fits any required need for the club. Would end up like that older richmond player that leppa brought in, cant remember his name.
Luke McGuane.

I seem to recall when Voss was coach he was excited about drafting Zeibell ....forgive the spelling..... but was over ruled in favour of D.Rich.

The way I remember it was that we were expecting Ziebell to be our pick, but guys like Hill and Hartlett jumped up the order and Daniel Rich - originally tabbed as a top 3 pick (Watts, NN, Rich) - slid a lot.

Schache was a bust for us as a team but not yet in general terms as a high draft pick living or not living up to potential. Neale may be an important cog in a flag winning team or he may want to return to Fremantle in two years. Pick 5 may have been that important cog or returned home in two years. Neither road is a sure thing
Correct so we move on and barrack hard

Its laughable that you think schache isn't a bust, and I'll say again neale vs beams is a massive win for us on and off the field recruiting kid after kid year in year out simply doesn't work FACT.

I would love for you to present some examples that provide evidence of this FACT. Personally I don't believe there is one club in the history of the game that have even taken the route exclusively recruiting kid after kid, and therefore I struggle to understand how this can be FACT.

Recall Rich being in the pick 1 conversation. Prefer Rich to the actual pick 1 Watts

always thought if Watts landed at a.different club he would have thrived. you just don't find blokes who are extremely athletic and have elite skills at 196cm. 2 problems that limited watts though. soft and Melbourne Demons.

Thanks whitelion, thats the player i was thinking of. Whitecross would fall into that kind of player for us. I do think there would be some value in mitch honeychurch if we could get him. Still has something to offer in the afl.
I would take brendan whitecross in for sure... on the rookie list. He provides leadership still skillful accountable and is flexible to play diffetent roles. If he hadnt lost a bit of pace over the last couple of years i dont think hawthorn would be letting him go.
Mitch Honeychurch's best is good but he is another small mid i dont think we really need. We would be much better served drafting Michael Gibbons, he is a better footballer hands down.

Nah to both. Whitecross 2 years ago in a leadership role made some sense, but Hodge does that much better now and Whitecross is too old to be worth investing in. I'd rather us take a couple of 18 year olds as rookies (e.g. Coleman from the academy).

So if we're using 4 draft picks, who are we delisting? We'd have to announce that today given it is a list lodgement deadline?

Okay so Frost retiring. However if we want Lyons and 4 draftees we'd need to make another delisting.

I predict the recruitment of Lyons, if confirmed, will mean we definitely go for speed with our first pick - assuming we intend to match a later bid on McFadyen.

Whose going to help down back when hodge is gone ? Coleman? Hodge is reltieing at the end of the year no matter what. Whitecross is 28... he can be very helpful for 2-3 years, hes not done thats for sure.

He hasn't been a great player since the ACLs. Down back we'd be looking for one of the younger guys to develop - I'd rather see Cox get games than have whitecross on the list for a couple of years.

Anyway with Lyons joining us as a DFA we definitely don't have a list spot for WhiteX so very unlikely to happen.

We will have to agree to disagree on that one.
Whitecross was very good for box hill in the vfl finals series when the cream rises to the top. Not sure Cox going to make it but i really hope he does, have seen little to no sign of him cementing his spot.

What's a better thing for us to do though, give games to a 28 year old who has done multiple ACLs or see if a second round pick from 2016 can play as a rebounding defender?

We have the slow medium defender demographic well covered with Richy beyond next year anyway (unless we can somehow get someone to take on his contract).

Lyons pickup probably ends the idea of us being interested in Tom Berry with a primary list spot.

Cal Twomey and a few others have recently been pushing Berry back to a late pick or Rookie. Twomey gets good info from recruiters, so I'd say that's likely where he's sitting.

The logic would've been Picks 18, 24, 43 (McFadyen), 62 (Berry) being the four picks. Without moving someone else to the rookie list, which I believe today was the last day for, that'd imply that 62 won't be used, and will probably be traded.

Short of us trading 18 or 24 for a future pick, I'd say we'd only take Berry if he slips through to Rookie.

Edit: Using old picks. 18, 30, 35, 56. Same logic applies. 56 would've been Berry, now likely traded.
