As a high school teacher I see year 12 boys with his personality type all the time. They could win lotto or see their dog run over in front of them and you wouldn’t see the outer emotional facade change at all. They are usually driven, internally motivated types that don’t give a lot away about what they are thinking, aren’t big on frivolous small talk, nor do they seek or crave the praise of others.

I recognised it in him within 10 seconds of that interview.

To me Smith seemed exactly the type of player/personality for us. Almost a Beams like replacement. No fuss. A footballer. He answered their stupid questions how many more mature minded footballers would (i mean wtf are you supposed to say to their guff rubbish).

For sure, I'm just having a laugh. After our recent success I'm relaxed and will back the club in with draft picks. But the poor guy really looked a bit stunned and it must have been a quick trip back from thailand to make the function.
