Skip 1, 2, 3 then watch 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and Rogue One.

Get to work and I will then recommend some extended universe novels for you ;)
I like the Machete order way of things.
4, 5, then (1 if you must) 2, 3,6, 7, 8
Rogue One not sure where it fits in

Cal Twomey's top tier in no particular order.
Jack Lukosius
Izak Rankine
Sam Walsh
Max King
Ben King
Nick Blakey (Sydney Academy)
Ian Hill

Possible next tier
Tarryn Thomas (North Academy)
Bailey Smith
Connor Rozee
Jackson Hately
Jack Bytel
Jye Caldwell
Rhylee West (Bulldogs Academy)

Lot of midfield talent there outside the King twins and Blakey.

If Collingwood put De Goey on the table to move up, say for one of the King Twins, you would have to seriously consider De Goey and Collingwoods first for our first round pick. Maybe our first and second.

Any order that involves 1-3 is objectively wrong :p

Just absolute ****ups of a ridiculous magnitude. The franchise should have been rescued from Lucas earlier.

The prequels are definitely flawed and can't say I like them very much but I still prefer them to the new sequels. They're flat out abysmal. I walked out of Last Jedi and knew I was done with the franchise for good. At least I'll always have the OT.

I'm pretty okay with the new films, despite their flaws. Happy to let a new generation of talented filmmakers (and fans) play around with the universe. I refuse to get caught up in the rantings of the more toxic elements of the fanbase who can't handle things clashes with their own fan fiction!

The prequels make me utterly vomitous.

I can see a good story in them, just ruined by so much crap thrown in there by Lucas. I can still see enough to make it worth seeing.

The new ones are mixed. Again some great moments but a lot of crap that doesnt need to be there

Rogue One however I found excellent. Probably right up there with the best

Lol, if you want to get caught up in rumours from absolute nobodies from the drafts board, go ahead, but please don't drag that shit in here!

Like jackess said, every pick from every club is available for the right price, so any draft board muppett with "a source" can make up claims like that and never have to answer for it. "Oh they were totally looking to trade but they couldn't get anyone to go there".

If we can get something of equal or better value to Lukosius, Walsh, Rankine etc then we might look at it, but I don't see any elite talent already in the system lining up to come here, so it's probably 98 percent likely we take those picks to the draft or trade them for a package of multiple picks.

Regardless, people shouldn't count their Lukosiuses before they hatch. A lot of tantalising talent at the top end to cater to different needs. Our recruiters will weigh up all of the data and information (about 30 percent of which we are privy to) and make the call that suits our circumstances.

P.S. I love you Sam Walsh.
But, but, but he said it so it must be true. Just relaying what was said and yes I thought about Walsh straight away, thus my own personal concern.

Does Walsh have the upside to be worth a top 3 pick? I question whether we can get a similar product (not as good) with our second pick and take a punt on Rankine or even Blakey or Thomas, players with talent not usually found outside the top 10, with our first pick.
Blakey and Thomas are academy tied, so we're no chance of getting them. Even if they were bid on at pick 1.

Cal Twomey has said repeatedly that Sam Walsh is a can't miss prospect and the best mid in the draft since Josh Kelly in the 2013 draft. He's also been talking up Sam Walsh to the Lions, a lot. I mean it's like he's almost campaigning for it.

Tyler Roos and Josh Clayton are both having good years with Southport. Any chance of getting roos and redrafting Clayton?

I see the prequels as a having the makings of a good story, but it needed Lucas to be further back and definitely needing more collaborators. He has always been a great visionary and has tremendous ideas but has needed people to challenge him or reign in those ideas. Gary Kurtz and Marcia Lucas deserve almost as much credit as George for making the original two Star Wars films into the classics they were. I think without those people to challenge him we were left with a trilogy built around some great ideas and standout scenes but ultimately hollow. If he has been overseeing as an executive producer with a strong voice, a trusted script doctor to refine the scripts and probably someone else directing they may have been great, as it stands they're not.

Whilst I can pull some things out of the prequels I do like, i struggle with the sequels. The first is a paint-by-numbers remake of New Hope with bland new characters and basically just exists to remind everyone why they loved the original and throwing in a few mysteries that serve to tantalise but ultimately become unfulfilling or wasted potential. Rogue One is okay but mostly because of Darth and Last Jedi is a mess in every way aside from being shot quite well. Solo has all the makings of a disaster though maybe Howard managed to salvage something on the re-shoot. Ehrenreich woefully miscast though. I liked him a lot in Hail Caesar but I feel like he is going to cop a lot of flak for a portrayal of Han that won't sit well with many people.
It's just not a series for me any more I guess.

Must be doing Sam a favour.

Would make me a happy man.

Tyler Roos and Josh Clayton are both having good years with Southport. Any chance of getting roos and redrafting Clayton?

You have to be pretty dominant to get a look in from the state leagues. They racking up 30+ possessions every week?

I know there’s a lot of love for Sam Walsh in these here parts.

But I’m particularly keen to watch and compare Walsh and Bailey Smith from Sandringham for the rest of the year.
Bailey Smith lacks the x-factor of players like Rankine/Hill/Rozee but seems like one of those sure thing 200 gamers e.g. Lachie Whitfield or Andrew Brayshaw. December birthday and dominating the TAC Cup averaging 37 disposals and 22 contested possessions plus good tackle/clearance numbers and kicking goals. Great skills and just a very well rounded prospect. I think he'll end up a top 5 selection and I would not complain if we ended up with him. Would compliment the likes of Rayner/Berry/McCluggage/Bailey very nicely.

There's currently about ten players in that top five discussion. Two tied other teams academies. Unless the club was 100% sold on Sam Walsh, if a swap came along dropping us in to the 5 to 10 range, with a second pick in the 10 to 15 range, it's worth considerable thought.

Yep, they are. Clayton has had a go in an AFL system, but Tyler Roos hasn't. He might be worth rookie consideration as a late developer. Will be interesting to see how he goes against us. And how we go against Southport who are on top of the ladder. Ironically, we could have tougher opposition from the non-AFL sides this year, who we only play once each.

I'll be hoping we stay clear of the King twins, there seems to be a trend growing that the big hulking not so mobile forwards influence on the game is lessening as the years go by eg. Jonathan Patton, Tom Boyd, Paddy McCartin, Josh Schache, Peter Wright. With the all over the ground team defense and third man to spoil tactics in vogue they don't get as many one on ones as they need to influence a game. They must be agile and not a liability when the ball hits the ground. The teams that are winning flags these days score through a large variety of sources.

I think Hippy will be fine and if we get Lukosius he is known for his agility and running game.

Peter Wright for me I think has been tracking pretty well (eventhough he is injured this year). The main issue with those big key forwards is their lack of athleticism be it speed/agility/aerobic capacity. Just to add they're not the most aggressive bunch as well but I do actually agree with your point about not going near the King Twins.

Rankine does look like a real game breaker/match winner type doesn't he? If we draft Izak Rankine we could have two superstar's/match winners in our side. Rayner and Rankine could cause havoc rotating between the midfield and forward line. Walsh and Smith seem the safer, blue chip mid prospect types though. I still really like Connor Rozee's skill set as well. Reminds me of Tim Taranto.

If we drafted Rankine then perhaps with our second pick we could get more of a workhorse mid like Berry's brother or someone like Matt Crouch.

Like it jack, Jarrod Berry looks like a steal at pick 17 in hindsight. On the link posted by briztoon above there are a few inside mids listed around that mark, Jackson Hately rated at 9 but most don't have him that high, like the sound of him and a good size to help out on the inside.
