The flyer is now Tarryn Thomas has smashed the academy series as mvp and has been spoken too by all clubs so may not end up at north. And a tasmanian so less of a risk than the SA boys perhaps

Keep your eye on him , stocks raising fast
But apparently he won't be a big win for North, according to some.

Would be good if we could draft Lukosius and swing a trade for Hately.

Would probably take an over pay on our behalf to swing such a trade.

I really hope we attack this draft and look to use whatever expendable assets we have to get 3 - 4 picks inside the top 25. Both GC and Adelaide already have multiple first round picks and could have an extra one each after free agency. I hope our first round pick and second from next year are well and truly on the table to capitalise on this year. 10 - 11 top 25 picks in three consecutive years perfect core build especially considering there are some good, and 1 or maybe 2, elite players on our list outside that bracket.

I'm tending to agree here. I would even go so far as to say that if we had pick 1 to trade back but only on the proviso that that there is elite talent later into the first round and to which is currently being stated but will be more evident come the national champs. Just to add it would want to be highly in our favour to do such a thing.

As someone mentioned earlier, Casey Voss is starting to make some improvement in the u18’s.

SANFL under 18s is a bit of a joke though. For every Will Hayward there are thousands that won't even make it to state footy.

He would have got some bloody good coaching over the years in the back yard...................... or would he have?;)

Lets hope if he nominates us as a father/son option he doesn't pine for a return "home" to Adelaide.

Wasn't named in SA's extended U18 championships squad.

Hard to see a kid not named in the 50 odd players selected for the trial match get drafted.

My guess is that the majority our 2018 F/S or academy kids are more likely rookie draft candidates, rather than bid on in the main draft. James Rendell is the best performed of our F/S so far this season.

Hardly talking him up as a main draft prospect. But either way, it’s encouraging to see him improving.

Is he the son of North’s former player, Brett Scholl?
His dad played for Carlton, but not enough games to qualify as a F/S prospect.

Looks to be having a good season so far as small (185cm) defender for Calder Cannons. Can kick reasonably well off both feet, intercepts and rebounds well, and can kick a goal when playing up the field. Been named in the bests for the Cannons a few times, and had a big game last weekend with 35 disposals, 8 marks and 6 rebounds. Fills a need (one of many).

Not sure where he'd be rated as a draft prospect. Second to third round. At this stage our current second round pick looks to early for him with depth of quality midfielders in this years draft.

On todays Road to the draft, Twomey extended his top tier of potential draftees to 10 kids.

Max King
Ben King
Sam Walsh
Bailey Smith
Jack Lukosius
Izak Rankine
Connor Rozee
Ian Hill
Nick Blakey
Tarryn Thomas

Somewhat surprised Rozee is in there ahead of Jackson Hately.

I’m just curious about the bases for your assessment of Scholl.

YouTube video footage, or what you’ve read?

My YouTube search of “Lachlan Scholl” yielded no result.

Way too early to be speculating about genuinely unknown quantities, in my opinion.

You can watch TAC cup games on youtube. Round 4 was the Cannons versus GWV (was watching the game for Tom Berry).

Pretty sure I posted the link for that game in this thread already.

They're also in the feature game this weekend.

And yes, I read match and player reviews for each game as well.

Matt Balmer from AFL draft central nomintated L Scholl amongst one of the best mid sized rebounding defenders

Well, I'm convinced.

You're assuming that Balmer actually know something about footy, as opposed to simply someone who watches a lot of it at junior level.

That said, at least Balmer and Knightmare actually watch guys play live, so that's a start.

Got a link?

I like their content, but find the site maddening to navigate, especially when looking for content older than a week that has dropped off the relevant page.

Brett Anderson talked up Balmer a lot last year, on twitter, on his regular SEN segment, on his draft podcast and had Balmer as a co-host on SEN's draft night coverage.

Personally, I rate Balmer as the top AFL draft media commentator. He and the AFL Draft Central team watch far more U18 games than anyone else in the media, and provide far more coverage than anyone else. And, unlike Twomey, he's not employed by the AFL, so can give a more balanced or broad view at times.

You want to hold fire on making any opinions about kids for this years draft, that's cool, but you don't have to poo poo others who like discussing the draft and the kids in the draft pool. There's plenty of other posters on here who have gone early on Sam Walsh, but I guess that's ok because he's a Lions supporter.

From ESPN, the highlighted is a bit of a worry.

Top rated Victorian midfielder Sam Walsh was one of Geelong's best players, collecting 33 disposals, 15 contested possessions, seven tackles and one goal. While Walsh's ball-winning ability and acceleration cannot be questioned, he would be disappointed that only four of his 17 kicks were effective.
