Strong Aussie rules background I wonder what position they want him to play. You’d imagine if it’s as a ruckmen than Archie is pretty much done.

His skills are probably already far superior

He won't be allowed to play senior's this season though is that correct? Not that he probably would anyway.
Would probably need a full pre-season under his belt anyway. I wonder if he will be elevated to the Cat A list at the end of the year.

Only 19 too. This could be an inspired bit of recruiting if it works out. Not to mention the fact it adds to our QLD-centric list profile, particularly in the KPP department (Hipwood, Ballenden, Andrews)

He's very agile, reminds me a bit of Hipwood in that regard. Have only ever seen him play basketball not footy so no clue how good he is.

Under 15's AA team so knows how to play a bit...just the massive chunk of development he's missed is a huge worry obviously.

But good luck to the kid :thumbsu:

We should absolutely not trade Sam Mayes, especially for a draft pick of all things. The bloke was in our top 10 last year and while he had a patch of bad form to start 2018, he will earn his spot back and keep it. Would much rather a confident Sam Mayes in the team than someone like Taylor, and that is not meant in offense to squizzy. Simply put, Mayes can play forward, wing and back and at his best would be very good in our team.

Agree wouldn't trade out Mayes.

Is he any good, I'll have to go and do some research, if we rate him at a pick we have on draft night why not.
I swear Knightmare must read my comments on here and go write an article on the kid that night.

Player Focus

Showing the class of an established AFL footballer, Curtis Taylor was Calder's best in their loss to Northern. The 186cm, 79kg, midfielder is a likely first round draft choice. He secured 19 disposals, 10 contested possessions, seven clearances and two goals.

Taylor is a high impact per possession player who shone at stoppages at the weekend. He frequently won first possession and accelerated away. Taylor often won the ball on the move and it felt like around stoppages he was always in motion. He also produced a brilliant snap and finish from a stoppage 25m from goal after winning first possession.

Taylor's game bares some similarities to Robbie Gray as a ball-winning midfielder who also can play forward and hit the scoreboard. The next stage in Taylor's development is to start finding more of the football. Averaging 19 disposals per game, a lift in output could see Taylor enter the top-five conversation.

Yes true, but it's not like he was just sitting around playing xbox. Very interested to see how quickly he picks up touch.

I'm sure like most people on here I track a number of "draft experts" to see how the draftees are shaping up. They each have their own thoughts and biases, and I found it hard to compare them to get an overall feel. So I've put together a "consensus" top 20 power ranking for the 2018 draft.

It's rather unscientific, I took the latest power rankings from Matt Balmer at Draft Central, Knightmare and D_P_S on BF, averaged them out and came up with the below order. If anyone else finds this useful/interesting let me know and I'll post updates from time to time and expand it to include Twomey and anyone else people feel are worth adding.

Huge worry seems a bit overstated. He's 19 and athletically gifted. Hell, Eagles did it at 28 and he would not leave a sport he has a big future at if he/the club weren't confident in him being successful at footy.

I wonder if we can find some footage of him from the 2015 days. Lions_Insider may be something worth scanning the archives for?

Love it trikster, if you're willing to do it occasionally and post it on here that would be great.

Great minds think alike it sounds like.

Watching Calder, it was hard not to walk away from that game thinking anything other than - Taylor was best on ground and that one who screamed special in every involvement.

We have the footage for if/when he officially signs :grinning:

Thanks Trikster. Love this stuff. I think now with our KPP depth, we will going after midfielders.

Cheers again

Sounds like confirmation to me!

Now that's an interesting view - thanks so much !

Knowing whose available in 13/15/20 where Adelaide's picks are roughly, I wouldn't mind us swapping our first pick for a combination of Adelaide's. If no Lukosius for us - they can have the pick ;)

No Thomas Berry in there, could be still available at our second?

I hope we get Berrys brother, Tom. Most mock drafts have us getting him in the teens.
D_P_S is the only one of the 3 that goes beyond a top 20 .... he has him at 21. So yeah very much around the mark for our second pick at this stage.

http://www.brisbanebullets.com.au/news/article/36848-bullets-release-fullarton-and-welcome-back-holt

He has been released from the Bullets so either he signs with us as a Cat B, doesnt pursue any sports or maybe goes to America?
He will be coming to us, from the article-

It was also clear that he had decided that AFL was the pathway he wanted to pursue and as such we have agreed to release him to follow that pathway. We retain his rights should he return to basketball, but at this stage we wish him the best with his AFL goals.”
