Not a fan of omac?
I am.
Both can actually play up forward. Both have height and both are good below their knees for big guys.
With Martin in his early 30's, it might be wise to start looking at Preuss now rather than later.
Preuss also has that 'agro' about him that I like - he would try to 'hurt' a Dunkley/Bont type ruckman in the centre square.

If we could lock Preuss in as a ruckman for 8-10 years it'd be worth it but I'm not giving up on McInerney yet

You need at least 3 ruckmen on your list, Preuss and the big O would be a good first 2. Not sure if Archie makes it?

Archie still has a couple of years to run on his contract IIRC. Then there are a few like Ballenden or even Fullarton that could possibly pinch hit.

I have only seen glimpses of Preuss but I like what I have seen, IMO he would be an upgrade on Stef now

In some ways yes and other ways no. The best thing about Stef though is he won't cost us a high draft pick to play next year

Preuss is contracted and would still be in Norths ruck succession plans. He won't be cheap.
Can get a year or two out of stef but i would have a big crack at preuss when his contract expires. Although he may be cheaper now than in two yrs time. I think he would be a great fit long term. Isnt he a qld lad, could be interested in coming home. Also read ollie wines saying its the last time he'd have a chance to move. Would be a marquee player worth having a go at for our club. Ageing beams n zorko, an up n coming team closer to his age. Could be a perfect fit. Our firsrt round pick would do it, wouldnt it.

Hard to cop all these losses and the fact that we are looking destined for another bottom 3 finish atm but on the bright side we are a lock to get one of the top three prospects in this years draft which at this stage looks like one of Jack Lukosius, Sam Walsh or Bailey Smith and any of those three would be great additions to our young core of Andrews, Gardiner, Hipwood, McCluggage, Berry, Rayner, Witherden, Cox and Bailey.

Jack Lukosius as the gun key position forward with the athletic ability to essentially play as a tall flanker in the Charlie Curnow mould. Has a great work rate and aerobic base combined with strong hands allowing him to push up to the wing and take marks and link up in scoring chains and then push back into the forward 50 and receive the ball for a shot on goal. Can slot goals from set shots and from crumbing opportunities and is an elite kick around the ground. The full package and it is no wonder he is seen as the consensus pick 1.

Sam Walsh is the Treloar esque, powerful, high possession winning midfielder with that elite burst of pace from stoppages combined with elite endurance. Just racks up the footy all day and is an athletic beast. Will be a gun midfielder.

Bailey Smith is another with elite endurance combined with elite foot skills. He's a high possession, clearance winning mid who excels at the contested footy and works hard defensively laying around 10 tackles in just about every match he plays at all levels. He also has an unmatched dedication and professional commitment to becoming an AFL player and being the best player he can possibly be. Will also be an absolute gun midfielder.

Ben King probably rounds out the top 4 at this stage having kicked 5 goals for Vic Metro on the weekend. He has shown the ability to be a dominant KPP at both ends of the ground, he's athletically gifted and skilful and his stocks are going.

Smoky has to be Riley Collier-Dawkins simply due to his mix of athletic attributes and skill set. Not as a complete prospect as those I've listed about nor quite a few other prospects in this draft and as a result his production isn't as high, however, at 194cm with a burst of pace, elite kicking skills and the ability to rack up high contested possession numbers he is an intriguing prospect and could push into top 5 calculations come the end of the year.

OK, if we are after a midfielder in this draft, then Riley Collier-Dawkins must be a consideration....This kid can play, has all the skill sets. Able to win the pill and very clean at ground level. His distribution by hand is great..and makes the right option ... He's tall and reminds me of a cross between Bontempelli and Cripps..as he can go forward and take a good contested mark an acurate in front of a goal....On Future Stars said he didn't care where he went in the draft.

Whitherden Gardiner ?
? Andrews ?
McCluggage Berry ?
Rayner Hipwood ?
Cameron McStay ?
Big O ? ?
Interchange
Taylor, Bailey, Robertson, ?

Just a quick look at our young but best 22 players and also to highlight how we do seriously have the core there but still have some needs (plus I'm sick of the doom and gloom). If Cox, Allison and Starcevich are able to come on that would seriously help our profile plus reduce the 9 ? to 6. I'm not forgetting Woolley, Ballenden and Payne but as a law of averages and currently aren't best 22. The interchange players could be starting but for today's exercise have left them there. Personally, it would be great to maximise our opportunities this draft especially in the are of the midfield. Also does highlight our back 6 still needs work with small and medium defenders but our midfield is our biggest concern IMO and it really is the area that wins games. We need to maximise this draft not sure if we should use next years first rounder as it will still be down the bottom 6 and could be used for trading. The way Ben King is going he is in the top 2 calculations so there is a small chance to move back a spot or two for another late first rounder and this could be with GC. Nothing that others have stated before but just to highlight that we aren't as bad off as some others but also that we can't rest on our laurels and that Noble and Ambrogio need to work some magic and nail this draft.

Great post jj, I'm for trading next years first for a high pick in this years, must be in the top 5-6 to be worth doing IMO. I'ts a gamble but with the vast majority of MSM and BF pundits saying the top of this draft is stacked with elite mids I think it is worth the gamble.

Also except for Jack Lukosius I'd stay away from talls, I'd stay away from the King brothers, just a gut feeling on that though.

Really can't see the point with picking a KPP if we are in desperate need of more quality midfielders and there is a bloke with leadership qualities, a balanced inside/outside game and is one of the most highly rated mids in the past few years available.

Not sure we are a lock for top 3 prospect at all . We beat Carlton and St Kilda at Gabba in my opinion and probably beat Gold Coast there . That could put us in line for pick 4 then suns get compo pick when lunch leaves pushing us back to pick 5 . If I was suns I’d be drafting both those king twins back to back with picks
