Watching the replay and Walsh is everything they say he is. Wonderful work ethic and just a natural at finding the ball. Bit on the skinny side so will take a few years to fill out but would play league footy next year.

Was impressed by the kid Duursma for Vic Country and the full back for Vic Metro will be a player in time - James Blanck. Thomas Berry was very solid in one on one contests but didn't find much of the ball. Can't see him going top 20.

The Sudanese boy (Khamis) who is part of the Bulldogs zone will be a good player.

Seems T Berry is going down the path of his older brother in his draft year. JBerry was "forced" to play off the HBF due to injury and needs I think. As such he went a bit lower in the draft. We play him in the mid and he looks a lot better than expected.

Yep, Pretty surprised he is playing off the half back line considering he looks a lot better in the middle. Really think if we pick him up for our 2nd round pick, he will go the way of J.Berry (as you said) and he will be a steal

Uncle of I believe, and yeah, played 1 senior game for us.....

Still -a connection to the club!

Thanks lionshine, that looked like it was or close to every possession they had in the game, fantastic work from giantroo . Smith looked a bit more inside from that vision, and overall IMO Walsh looked slightly more impressive.

Gee, the possibility of rule changes makes a massive difference. I look at Smith and think that he’s perfect for the current game which has so much congestion. But, if the game is opened up and there are fewer stoppages, Walsh looks like the ideal midfield prospect.

Would like to see a bit more of Walsh winning first possessions but he looks incredibly smart around the contest.

This is what reminded me of McCluggage

The only bits of vision l have seen of either of them. Originally l wanted Walsh but l have changed to Smith now, absolutly fantastic by him. He tackled everything in sight, is more an inside player which would be good for us, is more physically ready for AFL and looks like he can play forward as well.

McCluggage in his draft year was very good at winning first possession from a stoppage IIRC. Against bigger bodies in the AFL he's not quiet got there yet. Has the natural ability though. Walsh and McCluggage are similar but different. Clug has the class, Walsh the hard running. Would complement each other very well. Still reckon we need an accumulating inside mid though. Wallis has shown potential and would be a great fit if we can land him.

Walsh for me, only limited viewing granted but he just has that class. Believe there will be some very handy types around our current second pick to help out with the inside and the way Berry is tracking he'll be around our third.

Heard from a really good source that if things were to stay the same with the bottom 4 i.e. Carlton 18th, Lions 17th, etc, there is a strong chance that the Crows will look to trade with Carlton in a Lions / GWS type trade which saw us slightly downgrade a pick and gain an extra first round pick that netted McCluggage / Berry. The Crows are desperate for Lukosius / Rankine and if they were to lose Sloane and McGovern, they may also look to further trade so that their four first / early second round picks could be used to acquire both, although I struggle seeing how they could trade deep into the first round to get Rankine.

The Crows trading into pick one would be ideal for the Lions IMO, giving us first choice of Walsh / Smith, with Walsh the clear clubhouse leader for mine. A Crows / Carlton trade would also be a huge win for Carlton if they could do what we did and get two quality players at say pick 6 and 14 or something to that effect.

I'm obviously pretty bias in wanting us to end up with Walsh, who I think Carlton will seriously look at if they don't trade pick one.

Carlton would be crazy or would need to be very well remunerated. Crows are dreaming if they want both Lukosius and Rankine but I can obviously see why they would. I reckon McGovern will end up at Freo with his brother but would they five up their first round pick around 4/5/6? Don't think so. But if they did then there's Rankine. But how do they get Lukosius? I reckon the Crows will get whoever it is that wants Sloane to trade and meet the offer to force. Who is the buyer though? It would be one of the recruiting deals ever if they pulled it off. The kicker here is if Carlton would even have a look (publicly they say they would) and what would a trade to get pick 1 for LUKOSIUS even look like?

I think this would be a mistake when they need midfielders especially if they lose Sloane.

Two other prospects of note. I've really liked what I've seen of these two and if we are looking at mitigating go home factor Curtis Taylor is one of Rayner's best mates and McHenry plays at the Falcons with Walsh(We could pick up Walsh/McHenry in Clugga/Berry style).
