Can't see Rankine sliding outside the top 5.

Not a chance. Kind of performance that's a reminder why he was talked about so highly last year. Seems to have really slid in rankings based off some ill-discipline and a go-home vibes but I'd be astonished to see him slide outside the top 3 unless Crows are really putting forth a great offer to get into the top 3. And even then they may have to choose between him and Lukosious.

One nice mark and then he passed to a teammate under bundles of pressure. Taylor been disappointing too but I guess it's tough to look awesome today if you're wearing the blue.

God, it's such a pain in the ass that we have to worry about that GC Lynch pick. Finishing third last and missing out on one of Walsh, Lukosious and Rankine would be very irritating. I guess theoretically we could even miss out on Smith too. Then who?

It's a crappy system where it hurts other teams just as much if not more than the one that receives the player.

Agreed. I don't think with the nature of the competition and the need for equalisation they can just abolish comp picks but the compensation system needs tweaking.

I've yet to see a better solution. I think a mid first round compensation pick should be an option. Realistically Lynch is worth 2 top 10 picks.

Band 1: mid first round (before the finalists) and an end of first round
Band 2: mid first round (before the finalists)
Band 3: end of first round
Band 4: mid second
Band 5: end of second

Would avoid hurting the bottom teams first pick

Rendell took a wonderful mark there. With his reputed leadership qualities we could do a lot worse than taking him late. Might end up a bit too imbalanced with talls though.

I guess Rendell would sit with Fullarton, Wooller and Ballenden as developing tall forwards. Could be worth a rookie spot though. Would probably prefer Hammelmann.
