I wonder if the ladder stopped today, would the Lions think about pick 2 for 5 and 11 from the Crows????
Before Max King went down injured, I would have jumped on that trade in a second.I wonder if the ladder stopped today, would the Lions think about pick 2 for 5 and 11 from the Crows????
Long way out from the draft but I'd do that trade. I want us to try and get two picks in the top 10 this year and add two quality midfielders. Two of Sam Walsh/Ian Hill/Connor Rozee/Bailey Smith/Jack Bytel/Jackson Hateley/Riley Collier-Dawkins ect. would really add to our future midfield stocks. If this draft shapes up to be as good as it is projecting to be I'd even consider trading our first rounder next season to get an extra pick in this years top 10.I wonder if the ladder stopped today, would the Lions think about pick 2 for 5 and 11 from the Crows????
I wish this thread wasn't open .... I'm going to bounce between Luky and Walsh all year!!!!! Along with occasional thought towards Rankine and whoever else bobs up over the course of the season.
I would trade our 2019 first to get back in to the top 10 this year.Long way out from the draft but I'd do that trade. Yep, it's a deep draft of quality in the first 15 or so.I wonder if the ladder stopped today, would the Lions think about pick 2 for 5 and 11 from the Crows????
Usually I would be loathe do this but agree here. This is the last year of a supposed heavy draft focus so let's put all chips in. 3 picks top 15 and 4 in the top early 20's.If this draft shapes up to be as good as it is projecting to be I'd even consider trading our first rounder next season to get an extra pick in this years top 10.
KM had highlighted this and it is a concern but when they don't hit their marks they're not missing by a lot and therefore can be fixed. It also looks like he is taking the game on. Matt Crouch has huge knocks on his kicking and this looks to be rectified.Does anyone else have any concerns over Sam Walsh's short kicking game? For me, while he racks up the possessions, he doesn't appear to be as damaging a player as some of the other top mids & small forwards.

From what I have read, if you're drafting RCD, you're drafting him on what he will be in 3 to 5 years time, not what he is now.
This is true. For this to occur I take GC into account and the possibility of Lynch leaving mean that they would have theirs, compo and WC's. That's three first round picks and two in the second round so they might look to spread it out to another pick next year. We could also exchange our second rounders if it helped. It's easier said than done cos there has to be something in it for other clubs. But I completely agree with the idea to trade next year's assets and go all in this year.
We are at the point where if we want to continue to retain players we need to start winning games & rising up the ladder, so we back ourselves to do that in 2019 trade the picks out, try & land a free agent instead.
Get the kids in this draft & try and speed up this improvement
Riewoldt cloneWhat are his strengths?
Has he got speed off the mark to create seperation? Good kick? Good endurance? Aggression? Independent enough to stay with us if we pick him?
Have to make sure we don't make the same mistake like we did with Schache.

lol.How about you watch the clip and form an opinion. 10 marks 5 metres in front of his opponent with the commentators saying they can't keep up with him. Kicks 3 straight in the clip. Has been likened to Riewold for endurance. How the F would anyone here know about his maturity? Braindead.
Thanks Briztoon. Unable to listen to the commentary as my boy is asleep and didn't want to wake him so didn't hear what they said. Appreciated, seems like a really good prospect, hopefuly we get him if we do finish last. I prefer him over Walsh (not sure about his ability to hurt the opposition with his kicks)General consensus from draft watchers & commentators.
Strengths:
Elite field kick. Good set shot kick.
Strong, but not elite marker.
Can drag his man all over the field, up on the wing and play in defence.
Very good at creating separation and running leading patterns.
Applies pressure in the forward 50 and up the wing when not in possession.
I do not know about being independent. I read one comment last week that said he is the loyal type not likely to present a flight risk.
Commonly referred to as the best draft prospect in the last decade.
