Can not see us taking a tall with our first pick. No Matter how good they are, we have some great tall talent already. What we need is midfield talent, and being able to get the best mid in the draft is exactly what we need. You can find some value in midfielders later in the draft, but the elite ones are at the pointy end.
What a load of bulldust. Pick 1 we take best available. If it's Lukosius then so be it. Most talented tall I've seen in the past 3 or 4 years I've been draft watching. That is going from his underage year too.

Lukosius looks like projecting as a tall wingman at senior level to me. I could even see him in that important third tall defender role with the way he reads the footy. Either way, I think he'll help the way sides move the footy, rather than taking big marks inside 50.

If I was looking for the centrepiece of my forward line for the next 15 years, I'm not sure I'd be completely convinced that Lukosius is the man.
You don't think Hipwood has the ability to be the 'centrepiece' of a forward line?
Lukosius projects as close to a Nick Riewoldt s you can get (admittedly going from his underage year mostly). You know the bloke who goes down as a legend of the St Kilda FC. Lukosius is extremely smart and we lack smarts inside 50 I'm afraid. The only reason we pass on someone of that natural talent is if there is a Judd or Gablett in this draft and I don't see one.

Marlion Pickett is one I hope we look at as a mature ager. 26 so not ideal age profile but we could use a talented player aged 26-28. Fast with elite skills and he is having an outstanding season in the WAFL. I was keen on him a few years back when he was around 23/24 and in strong draft contention after an impressive year in the WAFL. Was expected to go in the National Draft that year from memory if not definitely the rookie draft but didn't get a look in and perhaps his motivation dropped after that as he's been a tad quieter the past couple years but looks rejuvenated this season. One to keep an eye on.

Lightning quick, hope we get him. Anyone with that type of speed is a gamechanger.
Would be great to have someone with that sort of speed out of the back half.

Hopefully that speed translates to on field play, Joel Wilkinson didn't appear all that quick from the little snippets I saw of him.

The speed test is over 20 meters, I think the more meaningful measurement would be over 5-10 meters, that initial few steps bursting clear of a stoppage/opponent.

Safe to say though that if you're the quickest over 20, you're probably up there over 5-10

Do you know whether you can access them anywhere briz?
No that I am aware. I did read some of last years results that were published in an article, where there was a small cross section of looking at players speed over 5m, 10m and 20m from the draft combine.

One of the best thing about bringing in foreign players is that they get the best coaching in regards to skill work and thus don't have the issues around trying to re-teach bad habits. Give the lad a few years and we might have a game breaking HBF!

Jye Bolton has been having a ripper season in the wafl as well. Averaging over 30 disposals a game as an inside mid. Same age group as Pickett. Doesnt hurt to have a look at these kinds of players, but at that age without afl experience (bolton did have a year at Collingwood, played 3 games i think.) it makes it a big gamble. It can happen tho, podsiadly n stewart at the cats for example.
