I'd be picking the best available midfielder in the upcoming draft with our first pick. Walsh sounds ideal. The fact he's a Brisbane Lions supporter (and his uncles were Fitzroy supporters) has nothing to do with it.

If we ended the season with picks 4 and 23/24 and Gold Coast finished with picks 2, 3, 18 and 27

More likely that they would trade pick 3 rather than 2. Although if we did do a deal, we might have a condition that they can't pick Walsh or something. Would only work if they prefered Smith over Walsh

Gold Coast are desperate for inside contested mids. The bigger the better. They have a heap of outside types.

I would think Smith and RCD or Hately are much more of a need than Walsh.

Carlton are the team I’m more worried about taking Walsh, as they have the inside mids, but need the outside class.

I'm not entirely across the Suns list, but if they have two picks in the top 5 and don't take a tall with either of them I'd be surprised. Certainly think they'd look to take a mid with one of them most likely, but with Lynch going they've got quite a big hole in that area.

Also Max King is apparently rehabbing from his ACL at St Kilda, so they may well target him.

Maybe we should be thinking about grabbing the brothers. Very unlikely they want to come, but we can offer a good draft pick and money as well. Would help us immensly.

Right now I would say GC will finish 17th so pick 2. If Lukosius is still available at pick 2 I believe that GC would select him. If he is gone the next choice would be Walsh.

And no way we beat Saints. Not popular round here but we are no certainty against Suns or Blues either. Blues especially after traveling back from Perth.
