Certainly does seem like we are favourite to end up in that awkward spot. I’d like to think behind the scenes our team will have plans to wheel and deal their way to get their man. Or hopefully other teams doing it for us.

I hope to God this is where the majority of that fraud NGA funding has gone because if that's the case it's a huge win. This is where the funding needs to go.

I believe he has the potential to. He is a good inside ball winner that reads the taps well and has a lovely burst of pace out of congestion. He is generally pretty smart with the ball and has shown an ability to go forward, take a nice and kick a couple of goals.

He’s an incredibly hard worker and is dedicated to getting the best out of himself. If he doesn’t end up a top midfielder, it won’t be through a lack of trying.

SA were very impressive... would expect to see a significant number of their players drafted.

As to midfielders and keep in mind that I haven't see WA play, I don't think there's much between them and I tend to think there's always a bit of a Victorian bias in who's talked about the most. If Sam Walsh is in front, then there's a lot to like about Bailey Smith, Chayce Jones, Connor Hateley, Luke Valente, Connor Rozee, Bailey Scott, Connor McFadyen, and I'm sure there are more.

I'd want to see Riley Collier-Dawkins dominate in the midfield for Oakleigh before I'd put him in the above group. He showed signs tonight, but would be a risk with an early pick at this stage.

I really liked Jacob Kennerley's dash off half back, Curtis Taylor's attack on the ball and Oscar Chapman's last quarter. James Rendell competed well, though probably not a need for us. As a bottom ager, I thought Matthew Rowell did a lot to get the Vics back in it. It's going to be a very interesting draft.

Very surprised to see so many saying smith was average today. Was at the game and was extremely impressed by him.

Gets first hands on a huge number of balls at stoppages and was very strong over the ball and hard to tackle. Also clean when dishing it out by hand and covers a heap of ground. Ended up with 7 clearances and 6 tackles.

Rankines a freak and would make an immediate impact. Was impressed by rozee as well, not a huge possession player but managed to influence heaps of contests through pressure and interceptions.

Briz started the Izak Rankine train around a year ago, I'm on it now. If he is still there at our 1st (4-8) I'd take him.

Smith was much better in the 2nd half for mine and his handballing under pressure is top class. Except for that Vic run of goals in the third quarter, SA won all over the ground and clealry on the scoreboard. I didn't think the midfield battles were as crucial to deciding the result as they can be. Given that, it's natural to be impressed by players from the winning side. Yeah Rozee did a number of very classy things, I like him. A good option for us.

Like it, although we aren't getting Charlie's brother, he's in the Eagles NGA. We currently have picks 2, 20, 38, 56 and some very late picks. If we could trade next years 1st for a pick in the 7-10 range that would be ideal.

Then I'd like (assuming we are too late for Lukosius and Rankine) Sam Walsh, Riley Collier-Dawkins, Thomas Berry and Connor McFadyen. The romantic in me would like Casey Voss as a rookie as well.

I also think we are going to get an unexpected experienced player via trade, I got this gut feeling that David Noble has something up his sleeve in this regard.

At the absolute tops we will finish 15th so assuming the Suns get band 1 for Lynch that would mean pick 5 for us.

IMO we still end up with one of Jack Lukosius, Sam Walsh, Bailey Smith or Izak Rankine. The King twins are very highly rated on all draft boards I have seen, you would think one of the Blues, Suns or Saints would at least take one of them.
