Why do people assume the Suns wouldn’t match any offer for Lynch? If I were the Suns no way would I be happy with pick 3 - old be wanting a first and _second rounder at minimum.

ATM, they have as their picks ..(2), west coast 1st pick (15), Essendon's 2nd pick (25) and Geelong's 2nd pick (30) then their pick (38)...(5 picks in the top 40)... I have the Suns to finish last and if that does occur and Lynch does go.. the AFL will manufacture a priority pick(2) for Lynch...

Given that both Lukosius and Rankine are South Australians I'd be negotiating trading picks (1 & 25) & (2 & 30) to the South Australian clubs for their 1st 3 picks.... Crows (8,13, 19).... Ports (14, 21, 32)...giving the Suns 8,13, 14, 15, 19, 21, 32, 38

They’re not getting better than pick 3. Look at the Dangerfield trade. If the nominated club doesn’t have it then you can’t receive it.
Hhhmmm suppose your right but hawks didn't have 2 first rounders either to trade for o'meara so they had to get the saints involved if memory serves me correctly. So anything could happen if the gold coast choose to hold firm. In any case it doesn't bother me what they get really, was just curious as to why it was assumed a free agency compo was the default outcome, but again you are right pick 3 would be ok just not good enough for player/ captain of lynch's caliber

Have to agree wit Jackess. How are the mentioned teams going to offer better?

Two first rounders that will both be in the 12 to 18 range. I'd rather the pick 3 or 4 compensation pick.
Not say pick 3 is bad but if I had gold coasts list I would want as much top end talent as possible. 2 jarrod berry' would be nice. I know what some would say. You can't guarantee 2 jarrod's but I would say you can't guarantee that pick 3 wont turn into a dom tyson or josh schache. There are no guarantees unfortunately

Feel the Walsh dream might be slipping away. Keen to start keeping a closer eye on Smith now. Possibly a little more inside than Walsh and a slightly better kick?
Im off to find his videos.
I recall LDU leading the race to pick #1 a lot further through last year

Sandringham Dragons midfielder Liam Stocker is starting to gain a bit of attention with some great form in the TAC Cup. Missed the U18 Champs with a broken cheekbone but one to keep an eye on for the second half of the year apparently.

2018 DRAFT WISH LIST

1) Tom Lynch surprises everyone and stays
2) Ben King tears apart the TAC Cup
3) Bailey Smith reiterates he's awesome
4) Rankine dominates a SANFL final with a lot of time in the midfield
5) Lukosious is good but not exceptional in the SANFL

6) Sam is drafted by the team he loves at 5

Nothing is locked in but it currently is out of Walsh and Lukosius who goes 1 so a big decision from Carlton. Main concern for them is that their midfield is so small and slight bar Cripps and Walsh isn't that big bodied midfielder eventhough he will eventually put on size and so will Dow. They've also drafted a lot of mid types and we saw yesterday that they need more talent up forward besides going to Curnow every time. They do need to see how McKay and De Koning would go and just play them for the rest of the year. But all in all neither Walsh or Lukosius will be at the Lions.

We will end up with pick 5 the way we are going and with Lynch leaving. Plenty of very good talent at that pick. Bailey Smith, RCD, Rozee or even Rankine to choose out of so not all is lost. Can you imagine Rankine running around in our forward line next year which could look like this -
HFF: Zorko, Hipwood, Rayner
F: Cameron, McStay, Rankine

There will be plenty of talent at our second pick I feel and happy to see more players stock rise to add to this.

So not only do we face the prospect of our first pick being pushed back one spot, the Carlton board are starting to talk a lot about a priority pick (regardless of what their Chairman game out and said earlier in the year).

I would really be pee'd off if our first pick got pushed back another spot by a beginning of first round PP for Carlton.

Never say never but you realistically can't see that happening if we got an end of first round it would scream of hypocrisy but then again a strong Carlton is good for football :dollarsign::dollarsign::dollarsign::think:

Personally I see us finishing 15th (which at the beginning of year fell within most peoples range). So 5-6 pick range as others have suggested seems the most likely scenario. Do we really want one of the King boys or do we trade with Adelaide so they can secure Rankine. Trading with them could be the best thing we do if we can't get Bailey or Walsh. I think they will pay a premium to secure him.

Been pretty impressed with how Jake Barrett has gone the last few weeks think he has certainly played himself into another contract for next year ahead of the likes of bell Bewick Dawson etc .

Come list time at end of year I just can’t see how the likes of bell, Bewick, Dawson or paparone remain on the list so likes of Lester Barrett probably get retained.

Also been bet impressed with the last half a dozen games played but cutler he has always been a smooth moving player but he is now genuinely getting involved in multiple contests there weeee certainly concerns whether he could become the player we hoped he would be.

Agree rankine could easily slip to 4 or 5 would jump at the chance to have him starting off in a forward line with stints I’m a wing. I’d still be offering our first up next year for a pick in the 12-15 range think a club like Geelong or north would go for this

I'd want a pick a bit lower for our first next year, 7-10 range for me.
