What’s wrong with Bailey Smith? Not certain we need more small forwards, but we do need more midfield.

From all I have read Rankine projects as an very capable outside mid/wing type as well, he has elite evasion skills as well, can weave and evade out of congestion. He's not a mostly stuck in the forward 50 small forward ah la Eddie Betts player.

I came to this board earlier in the week saying that I could see McFadyen going in the top 15. Let's just say it caused some abusive messages from the Brissie fans.
That’s really misrepresenting the conversation. You poor sensitive soul. It was your dismissive labelling of the Allies as division 2 that got the response you’re referring to as abuse, not what you said about McFadyen. Actually your comments about McFadyen were overwhelmingly welcomed.

A stunning rewriting of events.

Projecting in the future...

Collier Dawkins - He has some great scope to be a great inside midfielder, just worried about output. Maybe not big bodied currently, but has potential
Jones - Can find the ball and has a turn of speed which does not get mentioned often. Maybe not big bodied?
Smith - Not in love with him as much as others but he is a little bull, great combination of speed and endurance.

The bargain inside mids which I would love to consider
Valente, McFadyen - Maybe more bigbodied (My two bandwagons)
West, Butters - Not big bodied, but I do love their inside ability

Outside chances of being good inside mids, some I've not seen enough of and others need to prove more during the second half of the season.

Duursma, Rowebottom, O'Hallaron, Turner, Stocker, Caldwell.
Good to see you have Jones ranked with those other two. With Berry and possibly McFadyen, we don’t need a third big bodied mid. Jones could be the best mid available at our first pick if we keep winning and climb the ladder. He would be a great get for us.

I did not label the Allies a division 2 side, I labelled McFadyen a division two player. It was the sensitive souls that could not handle the fact.

Please read below for further proof of your misrepresentation.

I might be turning into Quigs selling the virtues of a second division player.

So who do you think your mob will choose if they have pick 1 as seems likely?

Oh I see, he’s a division 2 player in a division one side. Seriously? What fact?

Be honest, have you never heard players from Tassie, NSW, NT and QLD being called division two players?
They are often referred to by that label. The Allies is a concept of combining all the division two players to create a division one side.

Anyway, it is a typical BF argument that is only based on the fact a supporter of another club is on your board making comments. It is always the annoying part of BF that if someone from another club posts on another clubs board it is highly likely to cop negative statements.

I bet I could go through a Quigs phantom draft and find him calling players from those states division two players and nobody got offended by his statements.

I did a quick search and here is a simple example from his 2016 mock draft.

Okay it is that time again and it is appropriate to again give the run down of what I am about.

Firstly this is my opinion of how I rate the players not where I think they are going to be drafted. I fully expect that guys like Scrimshaw and Hayward are going to be drafted well ahead of where I have them. I could be wrong about a lot of these guys. I have seen a fair bit of them but nowhere near enough to really make an informed decision. I am guessing quite a lot but it is a semi informed guess.

Do not assume that I have missed someone. It is likely that they are not there because I do not rate them. Collingwood fans not Callum Brown is in this category.

As always I will talk up the Div 2 guys and in particular the Queenslanders. I absolutely acknowledge the bias there but I am happy to live with it.

I have been banging these out for about a month at night. I have proof read once and that is it. There are going to be errors and typos etc but it has gotten to the stage where I just want to get the damn thing up.

Overall don't get freaked out where I have them actually read the reviews. You are much more likely to get information out of that than where I arbitrarily have them.

So McFadyen is a division 2 player yet could go as high as pick 15 in the draft?

If we end up looking likely to need our 2nd round selection (20-24) to match a bid on Connor McFadyen who could be that extra big bodied mid to help out Berry and Matheison long term does that change who we could select at our 1st selection?

If there is a way we need to trade our way up and get 2 selections in before McFadyen.

If McFadyen is projecting to be taken around that area we damn well better be packaging that second round to move back up to the top 3.

Regardless of that debate the responses were not what I would call abusive.

I can understand were you are coming from. McFadden is a division 2 player from Queensland, however I think once he is selected in an Allies squad he becomes a division 1 player, which is what irritates some of us here. It is illogical to keep referring to him as a division 2 player when he clearly competed in division 1. I think the mentality needs to change in the way we veiw players in the Allies squad, this maybe why (along with many other important reasons)the AFL developed the division 1 Allies squad

Edit: To change the perception of non-footy state team players in Victoria

I think we probably go best available with our first. But yeah, I’d imagine we’ll be trying to get two picks in before McFadyen. Probably have to look at the possibility of trade a future pick.

I think it will be question of taking best available, slight need preference to midfield but not desperate either way. I could defs see GC taking a risk on Max King at 2, leaving Smith, Rankine and Walsh to pick from. Hard choice.

Why not? Heeney, Mills & Hipwood were all division 2 players that went high.

FFS it was the name the AFL gave the competition, before they changed it and now call it the Academy Series.
