With David Noble confirming that live pick trading will be coming in this year on draft night IMO we will see a fair bit of this happening particularly the first round or so. The Adelaide clubs could be offering up some juicy trades/picks to get Lukosius, Rankine and a few other SA prospects in the first round.
Got a feeling draft night, may become draft week!

If we end up looking likely to need our 2nd round selection (20-24) to match a bid on Connor McFadyen who could be that extra big bodied mid to help out Berry and Matheison long term does that change who we could select at our 1st selection?

If there is a way we need to trade our way up and get 2 selections in before McFadyen.

If we finish 5th or better (and have it on good knowledge we miss out of Lukosius/Walsh/Rankine/Smith), I'd be all for trading our first two pics (+ change if need be) for Adelaide's two first rounders. Try and get in two picks before McFadyen, and nab two of RCD/Caldwell/Hately. Possibly even a King if one slips, would be good for cover at both ends given Harris' injury and McStay being as mercurial as he is. Wouldn't even mind bidding on West with one of our picks and see if WBD match.

I forgot about the live trading, I love watching the draft but that is gonna make it even better. Have they spoken about the certain rules that come with trading picks? NBA have some interesting ones

We beat the suns and saints easily and I honestly think we are going to be super competitive with chances this week and against Adelaide and north . I am pretty confident we finish above the saints leaving us with pick 5 . I cannot see Carlton trading someone with the talent of lukoscious out unless Adelaide lose their marbles and offer overs which seems a strong possibility and even then nobody gives up pick 1 these days . With so many high draft picks which Carlton have used which have been wasted you would think Walsh or lukoscious seem as good a bet as any. I think Adelaide will go to Gold Coast to nab lukoscious or rankine. In end I’d feel pretty happy about adding someone of bailey smiths ability to our midfield group with 5 good blend of contested and uncontested.

You know we don’t play the Saints again right?

Like it, I'm not a fan of the King twins though, I would also be putting in a bid on Blakey.

Form what I understand it is just trading of picks on the night, no players involved, not sure whether you can trade future picks on the night.

briztoon is our resident expert on this sort of stuff.

Why would Adelaide do that though? The only reason they want an early pick is to get Lukosius (or Rankine possibly). If they can't get either, I think they'd be much happier with their mid first round picks to potentially take a few of the other SA midfielders.

They haven't announced the rules, so it's all speculation at this stage.

A huge part of the BF experience is the meaningless speculation, got me beat why it hasn't been announced officially yet especially with Noble saying it is definitely coming in. The clubs would want to be putting together scenarios and getting their strategies arranged ASAP you would have thought.

I’d call dlanod the expert.

As dlanod mentioned, the rules have not been announced yet, so I have no idea.

Bids on Blakey and West a must. Makes me feel a bit dirty though to bid on all those f/s and academy prospects....that's Richmond's style
Settled then. We do it.

We need to draft another 2 potential elite midfielders this year. Beams, Zorko, Robinson, McLuggage, Christensen, Berry, Rayner, Bailey, Mathieson, Starcevich, 1st Rd pick 2018 and 2nd Rd pick 2019 seems like a deep midfield come 2020.

Conspiracy theory 1....GC will get inside knowledge on the peculiarities of the system and it's quirks to make the most of it's trading capabilities thanks to their CEO n connections.

Wagner and Watson too. They have form.

But they got stuck with them & this is where bidding for someone to make them 'pay the price' earlier than where we rate them suggestions are ridiculous & bordering on insane.

Clubs probably already know the parameters/ rules if they already know it is coming in. I suspect they will announce the rules and such to the fans once it has been made public officially.

IIRC there's footage of the North guys when we declined to match their bid and they didn't look happy. Unless we actually want the player it's a risky move

I wouldn't hesitate to bid on any other club's Academy player if we thought them worth it. If they bid on ours, roles reversed. C'est la vie - you just rate players and either match or not.

Bid what you are prepared to pay to end up with a player. Especially anything outside of the top 10 when clubs' ranking boards diverge so much. Any other strategy is completely stupid. I bet you idiots who keep suggesting otherwise play the pokies!
