Seb Ross would be lucky to be worth a third rounder so any talk of a first rounder, let alone pick 5 is insane talk.

Why do you go to such ridiculous exaggerated lengths? I dont want him for our first rounder either but to suggest he would be lucky to get third rounder is ridiculous. He's one of the hardest working mids in the comp. 14 Brownlow votes last year.

He's certainly closer to a 3rd rounder in value than a 1st

They weren’t worth second rounders. The systems are not setup so you get what a player is worth. Anyone with half a brain can see that.

Ross is contracted and coming off 2 strong years.

Literally no one thinks those were fair trades. We got absolutely screwed on those and I don't think anyone would argue with you on that. Doesn't mean that is how the trading landscape actually works though - it sucks and is unfair that we always end up having to pay fair value while victorian clubs get great young talent on the cheap.

Ross is not someone I'm particularly interested in either but he's clearly not worth a third rounder.

It would be a bold move but will depend on how we rate the draft.

They nailed Bailey at 15 last year and did brilliantly the year before so I’d back them in to have the bigger picture in mind if we gave up pick 5 even if it meant moving our first back into the teens

Wallis, Ross and Stevens is instant midfield depth and brings our window forward. Pick 5 for the latter two is interesting if we see no sure things at pick 5.

The Beams trade could still keep us in the first round.

I've always liked Steven, think he's a gun. I see the Ross/Steven combo being a lesser version of Beams/Zorko but they actually defend their direct opponents. We will still have Zorko and possibly Beams.

Not sure on the rumour though as I see absolutely no reason as to why the Saints would want to get rid of their only decent midfield options.

I hope we're getting the same immediate access to a mature ager that Suns and Blues will get. You'd think Collins, McAdam and Pickett would all be options that could have an immediate impact for the three clubs.

I’d probably do pick 5 for Ross and Steven.

Wallis, Stevens, Ross, Zorko and Beams if he stays looks pretty good to me.

If Beams went, I’d certainly do it for pick 5. Ross is getting criminally underrated by a lot of posters on our board.

Overall as a strategy though i wouldnt trade with the saints. They are an average lineup. In saying that Ross may be the only mid i would bend the rules for.
