The one l was told is a key defender who has broken the VFL intercept mark record this year

Sam Collins (Werribee)

Takes marks for fun down back, with no player in the VFL amassing more of the contested or intercept variety this year. His huge work-rate and ability to read the ball off the boot of opposition players saw him dubbed the VFL's equivalent to Alex Rance by one coach. Projects as a second tall at AFL level.

Let’s not go too crazy with the state league players. Remember when everyone was asking for Hallahan after he won the VFL player of the year and he provided nothing. Need to make sure they fit our team. Someone like Saad is a great example he wasn’t amazing but is pace was a clear reason to get him at afl level

Regarding State league players , they are kind of hit and misses , so pressure will be on Craig Cameron to do better than Clayton .

We've almost cleared the decks in terms of our rookie list and that gives us flexibility given we can't predict when/if the bids will come for Koenen and Graham. I assume both Holman and MacPherson will be promoted to the senior list so that leaves Dawson and Heron as the only players we have on our rookie list. Less rookies means we can have a larger senior list. I think clubs are allowed 40 senior listed players if you keep your rookie list to 5.

We know Lynch, Barlow and Rosa are definitely being removed from the senior list so that takes us down to 35 on the senior list. Rischa could potentially be delisted and put on our rookie list if they want to retain him while also opening an extra senior list spot. There's a very good chance Aaron Hall will be traded and perhaps we have plans to trade KK and/or Lonergan. Once we get down to 32 senior listed players, it allows us to promote Holman and MacPherson while also leaving enough space for 6 national draftees (Pick 2, 3, 17* Scott, Koenen & Graham). It starts to become problematic when you talk about adding extra state league players and/or players we acquire from other clubs like Jake Lloyd.

I do like the fact that the rookie list is relatively open at the moment and I suspect we might be looking to rookie draft more academy players like Fitzroy Greenwool. I'm glad I'm not a list manager because this is a tough one to work out.

bit surprised at the jaska delisting, only lasted a year.
barlow i think we all saw coming. as unfortunate as it is, i'm gonna have to trust the club has made the right choice long term. i highly doubt the club will ever publicly state why they chose not to play him or keep him on (could be a youth policy for our midfielders coming through?).
never really thought willis seemed up to the level so was expecting that, and a little disappointed that maxy is gone. would have been good to keep the local fella on our list, perhaps they were hoping he'd grow in height a bit more?
Jaska was going well in the NEAFL, but with Ballard outplaying him early on and then Koenen and Graham replacing him later in the season, I reckon the list management team have seen as much as they need to see. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up on Geelong's rookie list being a former Falcon.
Barlow's injuries and age kept him sidelined and playing NEAFL. He was so slow that letting him go was a mercy.
Willis did his ACL and that was all she wrote for him unfortunately. The exact opposite of what kind of season he needed to have.
Last is Max Spencer, who has a lovely boot and poise in D50. He is our first Academy selection to be delisted, but you wonder if he might be able to play his way onto an AFL Rookie List through the NEAFL in 2019.

Only managed 2 games in 5 years at 2 clubs don't think we could help him
He’s fixed his issues and played half the season well, you’d give him a crack surely. Top 10 pick, could say the same about Jaeger

Of the delistings only one I'm disappointed with is Spence (outside of Barlow). I thought he showed something as a third tall, but we go okay for those positions. Always sad to see local guys get let go.

Barlow's end to his career here is just sad. No other way to put it.

Surely we don't bring in someone with his injury history given we have so many trouble keeping guys without injury history on the park?

Maybe if it was an absolute free hit on a rookie list.

Yeah I wouldn’t say anymore than a rookie list spot. Surely he gets picked up, he’s still pretty much untried

Josh Williams delisted by North, available for the club to pick up in the Rookie Draft for nix. Only 2 AFL games in 2 seasons, but given his age and history with the Suns Academy he surely fits the profile.

Couple of whispers Casboult may be on our radar
As bad as it sounds we could have used him in the last few rounds of the year when we had no talls left to play.

But the priority should be to develop 2MP and Crossley. Given his end to the season I'm not sure how Crossley doesn't start in the 1s with 2MP.

Is he any good though?

Jaeger player 44 of 44 game in his first 2 season nothing like freeman.
Freeman's body sadly will never hold up at AFL level

Freeman played most of his games through juniors. Doesn’t matter when the injury hits, it still hits. It’s about getting through it and over coming. I think he’s lost a lot of speed since doing them consecutively
