The Suns have dabbled in Mature Age selection, most notably Holman in 2017. Jaska was selected in his 2nd draft eligible year, which I would say is another consideration worth bearing in mind because a 19yo is so much closer to senior selection than an 18yo.

Ryan Davis was a left-field mature age pick up by the Suns who probably wouldn't have been given a run by any other club, even though as a man in his 2nd shot at AFL he performed better than he did as a boy drafted by West Coast.

Keegan Brooksby is another mature ager picked up by the Suns who was worth the experiment because he did get games (including one to forget in China) but he wouldn't have gotten them anywhere else in the AFL.

Andrew Raines had already played 123 AFL games before the Suns picked him up after having been delisted by the Lions, but it was yet another case of no other club wanting the guy and he played only 6 miserable games at the Suns.

You like your Mature Aged players, but it is a total crapshoot where maybe 1 in 5 work out and the rest are just an experiment. That's why AFL recruiters are wary of them and only the irresistible cases get a second chance. Unless the AFL gives us some kind of concession, I wouldn't want more than one mature age rookie.

Why you keep on mentioning Clayton failed mature age selection , maybe Craig Cameron can be a bit different in his selection . Not every recruiters having the same preference on players .

You can't forever make excuses for long list injuries , surely need to fixed that area (medical and Conditioning department ) or else you are not going anyway in AFL . You also don't want your young player like Budarick playing Tac Cup , Allies and NeAFL and get burn out early before he get drafted. Surely allowing players like Baru at 20 playing Tac Cup will allow Budarick to be managed his game time ( Tac cup) after playing national U18 competition .

I'm not making excuses. The facts are there for everyone to see that the Suns have a higher than average injury list. I believe a lot of the Suns mystery injuries this year were actually managing player fatigue from all the travel the players had to do. There was also a high proportion of injuries that occurred at training and a large number of player injured in high impact collisions on the field. You can't stop Darcy MacPherson from breaking his leg with better conditioning, he just had bad luck.

I also have to disagree with you about Budarick - yes, he must play as much as possible in order to give him the best opportunity to impress at the highest level he can achieve selection in each week. If he finishes the year in the NEAFL we should draft him as that way he will begin his AFL career knowing his place in the system.

There is definitely a need to allow older players into the youth comp. TAC Cup sides can have up to 4 U19 players, but the Suns are going to have about 15 U19 players in the Academy and there are 10 players who will either get rookie listed or be delisted by the Suns who are your U20s. I agree that the comp should allow for U20s, but it doesn't and it won't. What I can see is provision to keep these guys at the Academy for another year as NEAFL top-up players who can begin their year in the QAFL and come into the NEAFL team if needed. Suns post-grads if you like.

You are the one mentioning Mature Age players 10 times a day. I am showing you that the club has been doing it and it only ever really worked with Holman. Clayton or Cameron, it doesn't matter. We should do it if we get access to the top rated mature picks, like Sam Collins, especially if it means extra list spots.

Seriously I don't mention 10 times today . every person think differently. I just mentioned that I am not surprised if GC pick mature age at second Rd or third round , I did not said 100 % . Is not a big deal really if he really use pick 38 , 41 on mature age . Geelong use it on Tim Kelly , Eagles use it on Liam Ryan, Brayden Ainsworth , Willie Rioli , Hamish Brayshaw .

Even though I think the Suns and Crows will be 2 of the competition's most active traders and influencers at this year's Trade and Draft, it just seems that the 2 clubs have got similar wants and needs. For example, your club wants to trade to get Lukosius, but you're offering another Aaron Young for the pick we're getting compensated for losing Lynch. We've already got 1 Aaron Young and we are looking for a replacement for Lynch, so Lukosius will do nicely. We're also looking for a genuine small forward and we will need pick #3 to select Rankine.

Another way the Crows and Suns are similar is our failed deals for future 1st rounders coming back to haunt us both. Your 1st round pick will halt at #15 if the Demons lose, while our pick will be #16 if the Eagles lose (#15 if the Tigers lose too). Go Dees!

Let's face it, Adelaide has had a pretty shitty year, starting with the Gold Coast. Last year you traded us your gimpy little washout, Wigg. I don't see us trading with you this year unless you want to go nuclear and pay major overs for our pick #2. We don't like it anyway. You can have it for picks #8, your doomed Dees pick plus your 3rd rounder.

doubt it. The kid wants to go to Victoria and by all reports we both want to take our draft picks to the draft and have declared we dont want expensive players (we also dropped out of the race for Lloyd). McGovern offers us nothing we can’t get from a mature draftee

In all honesty I think McGovern gets really underrated by people on this site and reckon he still has room to improve, he would be an astute pick up at the right price (A late first IMO). But you are correct, we won't be taking him, this would be Adelaide trying to get a better price out of Carlton.

I'd give up pick 3 for him... providing we were getting pick 7 or 8ish back.... But you ain't getting Lukosius. We will take him with 2. But there's a chance we can still get Rozee with 7-8. Oh and if McGovern is on the alleged 700k. That would be the deal breaker for mine. But if adel aide are willing to cover 100k of his salary then we can talk business

No doubt the long injury list has cost us wins but the upside should be that the entire list should be stronger for the exposure to top level football. Unfortunately I don’t think any of us believe this is the case

A recent article in the herald sun basically says the suns will hold may to his contract unless a mammoth offer is tabled to them.

With Collingwood and hawthorn the 2 clubs linked to him at this stage what "mammoth offer" could they make to convince the suns to part a year early on him?

I feel a top 10 pick after compensation picks so likely a top 8 pick is good enough as a solo trade. But it seems unlikely hawthorn or Collingwood have the currency to get that selection. So 2 first rounders? (Assuming they are both late firsts for this year and 2019) a first round and a player or 2?

You can be exasperated by his errors, or impressed that he's learnt another language so well that he can communicate with a whole bunch of native English speakers. The thing is with some language learners is that they don't just get their Ls and Rs confused in pronunciation, they also hear them differently and learn words the wrong way and so for him it has become "Flitsch", which is actually pretty impressive spelling of a word that must have been hard to master.

You can definitely knew that I am feeding your ego , as I don't have any problem with that , part of my research in this forum are trying to analyst how people like you respond when people think differently .
Eg if I keep talking about Mature age players get pick at third round pick , will you keep mentioning Koenan and possible Graham or GC academy players .

A lot of us want to control how people think , but you can't , you can keep writing long paragraph with perfect English but nobody really care about how you feel in this forum .

You would think the Suns at a minimum would want a mid Rd 1 pick (10-12’ish) and a best 22 player (with their 2019 wages paid by the Pies/Hawks) to even entertain trading him this year.

Even something like this might not be enough to entice a trade.

Not with a possible compo pick anywhere from 2 to 5 likely available next season.

Spot on - we are not getting offered better compensation this year than we will get next year. As a result it would be incumbent on any team trading for him to come as close as possible to that level of compensation for the Suns to even consider it.

Given that higher performing clubs can never convince best 22 players to go to Suns it would have to be picks - effectively would need to get what the Crows got on the Lever deal - 2 x 1st rd picks with possibly a 2nd rd pick going back the other way.

Oh, it is perfectly obvious that you are messing with people's minds on a daily basis. You are benign though, so nobody really cares. You change your viewpoints and so do most people. So what!
As for my "perfect English" and "control how people think", I just illustrated that I have a background in linguistics and can diagnose you spelling and grammar issues, while you appear to be getting confused with my efforts to influence how people think.
