You have lost your credibility - 2nd rd picks for Ellis and Townsend SMH.

If you are not getting a gun player for Lynch you take pick 3 and just do some small side deals if you want their players.

I did say later 2nd round picks. We currently have #26, #29, #38 and #41, but I think we have committed one of those last two for Miles already. Maybe the Demons will give us their 2nd rounder for Kolodjashnij and we will get something like #28 or #39 for Hall from North. I'm just working with the picks we have or might have. It isn't like you've added anything that hasn't been said before.

Corey Ellis is a kid who the Suns would have looked at carefully when he was drafted. He went just after Peter Wright and before Lachie Weller and Jarrod Garlett, so he would have been on their board with Jake Lever waiting to see how the picks fell. The Draft can be cruel because the Suns would have hoped Weller was still there at #15 instead of being snavelled at #13. Ellis went at #12 and Lever (Calder team mate with 2MP and Touk) went at #14, leaving the Suns with Garlett. I don't know if Ellis is mates with the Suns draftees from his year or how much recruiters put into him, but I think they'd value him. Somewhere in the mid 30s or later.

Jacob Townsend was part of the late season cavalry that lifted Richmond's performances to an elite level in 2017. He played the Tigers final 5 games and kicked 16 goals after spending the whole season in the VFL where he was named best player. This year he only managed 10 games due to form and injury. The fact that he was picked up by Richmond so cheaply (pick #70 from GWS) probably goes in our favour in negotiations, but there are two factors there that mean he'll cost more: one is that the Giants were having a fire sale because their list size had been cut to the same as everyone else, plus Townsend has finally come of age as a goal kicking medium sized forward. The Suns have Holman and Young who fit similar roles, but depth can't be underestimated and Townsend sort of fits that last chance saloon profile.

Its one thing saying we want him or him.

But unsure how Townsend will feel going to a third club... and state..
Sydney to melbourne and now to qld?
Anyone asked him if he is keen?

Thats why its beat Suns get picks.. then trawl the league for players interested in playing in QLD.

This deal looks so much worse now

Pick 21 26 37 and this years 20-24* depends on priority picks father sons and academy

For WC 18 and 50.

Lol why did the AFL allow this deal to take place
LOL Clayton basically handed them 3 second round picks, them got given a position in their recruiting dept. Good way to ace your job interview.

The conspiracy theorist inside me looks at this and thinks it's way too convenient for him to complete this trade on his way out and end up with the opposition plus the considerably better side of the deal.

Being reported that jack Martin requested a trade to essendon by freelance journalist Matty Baynes on twitter.

If it is true, what is he worth?
Can you really take a "freelance journalist" like him seriously? I mean, look at this from 12 months ago....

I wouldn't mind spending some 2nd rounders on Ellis and Townsend, just not the 2nd rounders we have right now. Besides, if it helps them trade up to get a pick to trade for Lynch we'll be getting value back. If they can talk Freo out of pick #5 with pick #16, #34 and the 3rd round pick we give the for Miles, then we can give them a couple of 2nd rounders so it's worth their while and they can restock at the Draft. Probably still need their 2019 1st rounder, but we can give them something back for that. If they got really creative, they could winkle the Saints out of pick #3 and add a real player to swap with Lynch.

You can come up with as many convoluted trade scenarios as you like but the Tigers are getting Lynch for free. Any deals for other Richmond players will be completely separate to Tom Lynch's move. The Suns will be getting pick 3 compo for him. Fremantle aren't giving up pick 5 either, not for what you're suggesting they do. They will also likely have the Lions pick 4 for Lachie Neale should this trade be completed. Fremantle aren't giving up two top 5 picks in this draft should they end up with both. They certainly wont be giving up their only pick now either.

That guy is an essendon fan and exit interviews were 2 weeks ago, he's been in Broome since

Thanks for coming in and telling us your opinion. I like to offer up scenarios that might seem unlikely, yet have some possibility and always favour the Suns. Fremantle have 2 picks in this Draft and already have 3 retirements, so how do you propose they'll manage their delistings and get new players? Yes, the Neale deal looks likely, but that's still 3 picks with 4 places to fill and no ability to delist anyone. Do you really think they will sit on 2 top 5 picks without extensively exploring ways to trade out of 1 of them? Your arrogance in saying that the Suns have to submit to Richmond's demands says a lot about you. We can and should push Richmond to pay for Lynch because it would be the best outcome for the competition and Carlton should really be the club that tries to make it happen, but we already know your opinion on that. You only have to look at how badly the Blues have squandered their chances to become a powerhouse again to see that they can't be trusted with the top pick. The Suns deserve top pick through the priority system just like your team pinched the top pick from Richmond and screwed yourselves. I guess West Coast will be thanking Carlton for the Judd Trade this week.

Giving up second rounders for miles and Ellis isn’t working in the suns favour haha. U could have Ellis, Townsend and miles for about pick 50. 2 of the 3 would likely be delisted

Richmond aren't demanding anything which is what you continue to overlook. Tom Lynch has committed to them, they get him for nothing. Richmond aren't demanding anything at all from the Suns, they don't need to. GCS will receive pick 3 compo. Im certainly not sure why you are pushing for your club to forego pick 3 compo and take Richmond's pick 15/16 and a couple of their random OOC players that have played 5 games between them this season, solely because you feel you want to force them to trade. It makes no sense. GCS can pick up random OOC Richmond players for one of your second round picks alone in separate deals and you keep pick 3 compo but you would rather pick 15/ 16 instead? It really doesn't make any sense sorry.

And you're right, you do know my opinion on your trade scenario you posted a couple of weeks ago. It was silly then, and its silly now. Carlton gives up pick 1 for a late first round pick, random C grade players and second, third and fourth round pick swaps in some convoluted three or four team deal? Please! It made no sense then and it makes no sense weeks later.

And yet you still have no problem with being the very top team - you are still Minor Premiers - and poaching our best player for nothing. I think you should pay for Lynch with a decent player and pick #16 plus a future pick. I also think the AFL should give the Suns the maximum priority pick at the top of the Draft - by the way, Carlton blew their 2007 Draft and you picked Cotchin and Rance with your pick #2 and priority pick, so I don't really get your point. And 2 years later you got Dusty at pick #3, which was a year before the Suns first Draft when you got Conca at pick #6.

I'm 42 and my first team was the Brisbane Bears. My old man was a Richmond original, but he wouldn't let us kids go for the Tigers because of the shit that went down with Richmond getting rid of its best players and coaches in the 80s. Our Chairman and your Chairman used to have an annual wager over which of our clubs would finish lower on the ladder. While you were rattling cans to save your team, the AFL killed the team up the road from yours and made them merge with my team, who had just started playing finals after 10 seasons. After another wooden spoon, the Brisbane Bears finally started to have some success.

I stopped following the Lions for similar reasons to my old man switching from the Tigers - bad management and too many betrayals - and have thrown my support behind the Suns knowing that there would be years of pain and devastating defeats.

My crack at you was an observation that Richmond played exactly like the Gold Coast tonight. The hack kick forward chaos ball has worked for you guys, but it hasn't been a great tactic for the Suns.
You know I mostly lurk here, and I'll admit to only reading your draft and trade thread, but in all the time I've been here THE_GUN has been nothing but respectful, often engaging in constructive discussion and in general being a positive member on the Suns board.

He doesn't deserve this crap.

He's not his club, nor the AFL.

The AFL, in creating the Suns, wounded many clubs in the process. Most fans move past it, and get on with supporting their team.

Quite frankly many AFL fans needs to grow up and realise this is the new landscape of professional sports. Be thankful the AFL still has some mechanisms in place to compensate clubs losing players in free agency. In most sports when a team losing a free agent, they don't receive anything other than some cap space.

I read that the AFL commission will be deciding on concessions for the poor performing teams on Monday - wondering how long it will then take to announce the changes (or at least be leaked to the media).

Some combination of pre-access to state league players and a priority in the middle or after the 1st rd.

Terry wallace already let the cat out of the bag a few days ago didnt he?
Saying priority picks and mature non AFL listed players pre draft day.
