Miles has already been signed for reported early 3rd rounder, which shows your ignorance. Pay attention to your own list after going out of the finals in straight sets and missing out on Tom Lynch too. Richmond aren't demanding anything which is what you continue to overlook. Tom Lynch has committed to them, they get him for nothing. Richmond aren't demanding anything at all from the Suns, they don't need to. GCS will receive pick 3 compo. Im certainly not sure why you are pushing for your club to forego pick 3 compo and take Richmond's pick 15/16 and a couple of their random OOC players that have played 5 games between them this season, solely because you feel you want to force them to trade. It makes no sense. GCS can pick up random OOC Richmond players for one of your second round picks alone in separate deals and you keep pick 3 compo but you would rather pick 15/ 16 instead? It really doesn't make any sense sorry.

And you're right, you do know my opinion on your trade scenario you posted a couple of weeks ago. It was silly then, and its silly now. Carlton gives up pick 1 for a late first round pick, random C grade players and second, third and fourth round pick swaps in some convoluted three or four team deal? Please! It made no sense then and it makes no sense weeks later.

I wouldn't pay more than a third for a player that couldn't even get into a team that got demolished by the Pies.

I wouldn't mind spending some 2nd rounders on Ellis and Townsend, just not the 2nd rounders we have right now.

These are the comments that started all the excitement. We are talking about the difference between a few places in the Draft. I am basically agreeing that a 3rd rounder is about right, but if have some late 2nd rounders through trading players then that might be the price we pay. One of our early 3rd round picks has reportedly been set aside for Miles and the Tigers will be eyeing of the other one which at #38 is virtually a late 2nd anyway.

Last year we threw away all our 2nd rounders in a terrible deal and nobody wants to see us giving up the picks we have for a bad result again. I think we'll have more 2nd round picks than the pair we currently have, but maybe I'm wrong and we only get 3rd round picks for players like Hall. It's all speculation and fun. Don't read too much into a throwaway comment.

Townsend and Ellis are reasonable players. The former has been close to top 22 for the Premiership side and played in the Grand Final last year. Last year we gave a 3rd rounder for Aaron Young, which is about right for Townsend. Corey Ellis is more of a player with potential who was putting together a decent run of games last year until he was basically replaced by Jacob Townsend in round 22 and couldn't crack back in the the senior team. I doubt the Suns just go out and buy 3 Tigers rejects and Ellis is probably the least likely for us to sign, even though he fits our age profile and comes from the same Draft as Weller, Miller and Wright.

Dont agree with 17er on trading, cant possibly see Richmond getting picks to justify a trade so pick 3 is the smart move, the richmond rejects will be late picks 3rd or later to get the deal done. We will have so many picks we wont even use 3rd round picks.

And whoever it is Brodie, May, Martin if they are being traded it is because the club wants them gone, i suspect the salary cap mismanagement would be the likely cause for it and considering the Rebuild we are in the club is prepared to bring in the kids.

Horse trading of players comes later. It may turn out that these guys get no solid offers in the Trade Period and are delisted and can be picked up in the Rookie Draft.

What you are saying doesn't make sense because Richmond have to make their offer first before any player trading occurs. If the Suns do decide to match the offer, Richmond are going to have to do some wheeling and dealing of picks and players if they are going to be able to beat pick #3 compo. Last year the Suns put a high value on players in the Ablett negotiations, so we can only speculate how Richmond does business in that scenario.

Right now the Tigers have picks #16, #34, #70 and #88, with players like Miles, Townsend, Ellis, Broad etc being touted as tradebait. 2 of those players and the first 2 picks would be a better deal than just pick #3. 1 player, pick #16 and next year's 1st rounder would also be better than #3 on its own. There is no way known pick 16, one of the Probable delisted Ellis, Townsend and miles and Richmond’s first next year (probably late teens pick) is worth pick 3 in this draft!!! With those 2 picks and player you have potential 3 spuds with pick 3 you are pretty much guaranteed a very good player in this draft. The top 7-8 his year are a step up on the last 10 drafts top 10, the top 7-8 this year would be top 1-2 picks in any draft of the past decade.

Carlton are probably into Brodie but hasn't actually been any mention of him wanting to leave. Sounds more like fan-theories that all their supporters thinking they can get him for like a mid second rounder. Don't believe it either. they have mentioned other players on their thread that I know saying they're trying to get to Carlton, and I know for a fact that it's complete bullshit. Don't buy it

What part of this sentence is difficult to understand? Yes, if nobody wants to trade for Richmond's expendable players they may be available in the Rookie Draft. Yes, those who support the compo deal believe pick #3 is the best deal possible and won't be persuaded otherwise. Yes, matching Richmond's offer is less likely and carries an element of risk.

But what you are failing to take into consideration here is that these Richmond players have trade value - 2 of them are Liston winners in the last 2 years and the other is 4 years removed from being drafted at pick #12. They are going to attract attention from a lot of clubs at the trade table and in the scenario of trying to meet the Suns expectations they are going to be used. Miles is already halfway to the Suns after touring the facilities and meeting with recruitment.

You are also ignoring the fact that I have talked about trading up using Richmond's pick as leverage into a Top 10 pick, or requiring them to make that trade for us. Of course the Suns would want Richmond to come up with more than pick #3 in a matching situation, but that might involve taking the risk of future picks.

By your logic, pick #3 has the same value as pick #7 aside from losing the advantage of choice. So what I have said, that trading to a top 10 pick leveraging pick #16 and some of our other picks, means that we still get an elite draft pick, plus an experienced player and a high pick in next year's draft. Yet you don't see it, which is fine. It's a vanilla, risk-averse, mainstream opinion that is safe and defensible. Good for you!

It still doesn't change the fact that Tom Lynch is worth more than pick #3. We will probably find out quite soon about compensation and concessions within 24 hours.

As a Carlton supporter, Id love Brodie at the Blues, but as I said on our own pages, I cant see why the Suns would let him walk unless its what he has asked for. I would think he is 100% a required player at the Suns.

I would think that Scrimshaw would be the more gettable of the two for Carlton or another team.

Always liked his game - would come on in the last quarter as the sub for the Crows and reel off 10 touches in a quarter
