We are 3-5 after not playing a single home game our form isn't anywhere near as bad as it is being made out.

But yes, you are right, there would be a tempt to go home if we don't pick up in the 2nd half of the year.

Same as every other time the discussion has come up with every other player thats wanted out. Want a player 10x more than ANY draft pick, even first round.
When inevitably no player says they are willing to move, and we a forced to look at Draft picks (which we dont need as we already have what feels like a billion sub 22 year olds on the list), then Martin is easily worth in excess of a first rounder. he is essentially what you hope every 1st rounder MIGHT develop into. so essentially the first rounder without the risk.

No matter what happens we are here to stay.
We will overcome any stupid decisions of admin or any tools that aren’t in it for the long haul going home to Mummy.
In time it will be a QLD/North NSW team with a sprinkling of others desperate and happy to be here.

what pick he was is pretty irrelevant. thats the past. at the trade table have to look at what is known + an allowance for what is likely.
Is he or likely to be one of the top 30% of players in the AFL? at this stage i haven't seen anything to say he is now (so not known) therefore you are down to relying on the whats likely. he has some of the attributes. quick with reasonable skills, but is relatively short and very light for a modern AFL footballer. can you make the call that those attributes will put him in the top 30% of players on the comp? if you answer that with a 100% certain yes. then he's worth a first rounder. if you cant, then the club giving up the first rounder is probably better off trying their luck in the draft where they could potentially get a top 5% player

Agree to disagree then, if i was told the price for Ah Chee was a first rounder, I'd be apologising to Cal, and saying we couldn't get it done. obviously I'm not a list manager, but that's my view.

And there's supply and demand at work. WC with a surplus of Cals type would rate him at a late 2nd or 3rd round pick. Whereas a Collingwood or Carlton that have a need for foward class would rate him higher. This is where the go home 'demand' of players hurts the "economy".

Come on be reasonable, was a knee jerk reaction - we have a lot on our plate at the moment - trying to sign up Lynch, Fiorini etc.
Give us a bit of space and maybe come back next year - it's a bit hard working seasons in advance. Too many plunderers looking for go home talent .

In the event was a polite way in saying should these players finally crack the sh!ts that the Suns are going nowhere and they would rather play for a team who is likely to have finals success and play in a world class stadium in front of more than 6000 fans.

But since you got stroppy with the polite version may as well just be clear in where Im coming from.

Lynch has already stated he will wait an see how things are going before deciding on his future. He wont be the only one. At some point players will look elsewhere if the Suns dont make finals. Its that simple.

Stroppy is awesome and insightful - why you are here talking about players contracted here and trying to stir up trouble on an opposition board? Maybe consider more productive uses of your time.

West Coast Eagles FC are like a Venus Fly Trap for homesick WA players and success starved players. Most recently Brendon Ah Chee, whose family had followed him to Adelaide, although I suspect if they relocated to the Gold Coast where 2 of their sons live they'd be seeing Cal play a lot more than his elder brother. Jamie Cripps was poached from St Kilda, Lewis Jetta from the Swans, Josh Kennedy came in the Judd Trade, Jack Redden (SA) and Elliott Yeo from the Lions, Nathan Vardy (VIC) from Geelong. Two thirds of their list is homegrown talent, but even that is exploited from junior clubs through the Draft and Trade instead of nurtured in an Academy like the Suns are developing.

That's their business model and the reason their fans can afford to be so arrogant and smug. Soon enough the Suns will have a list approaching 50% home grown talent and the cure for homesickness appears to be success, so we just need to handle each case carefully. David Swallow would appear to have settled with the club and now his brother lives in the region too. Jack Martin is the most coveted WA player, yet I think there is a difference with him having spent 6 or 7 years on the Coast and somewhat grown up here. Ah Chee and Josh Schoenfeld are 20yo, Brad Scheer is from WA but I think we know he will be staying, which is also the case with Wil Powell.

Ok this 6000k fan bullsh$t this bloke and the rest of the media are having a crack at us about is driving me nuts.

Simple facts
1. The game was held in brisbane, not the gold coast. But its only 1 hour down the road you say? Nope not using public transport and not when your driving and have to park 20 minutes away from the venue. 1.5 hours is more accurate.

2. At the exact same time a few suburbs over the Titans were playing the storm in a double header followed with broncos v manly at suncorp stadium. You dont think the already smaller memberships of the suns isnt shrunk by maybe half of the members being titans supporters aswell and choosing to go to not just 1 game but 2 instead of the suns? They had an overall attendance of 31+k to that double header id say approx 8-10k were titans fans.
If this game was played at metricon it would have been easily over 10k and if it didnt clash with a titans game probably 14-15k.

Also to finish off, just over 6000 fans to a home game the week prior in ballarat a similar 1.5 hour drive from Melbourne the heartland of AFL yet some how this is called a success.

But just to answer you regarding ah chee and martin or any other WA player we have, The Gold coast has everything Perth has but with 1 added bonus....we are in the same time zone as the rest of the country. Some players may leave due to family or income or success but others will build a home here love the lifestyle and stick around.
Until a player requests to leave or overwhelming evidence points to a player going we dont entertain trade proposals because its all just fantasy.
