Guess it depends where he intend to play burgess aswell.

Any price for hombsch has to be worth it to port as we really don’t have to ship him and we would have to replace him. Replacing him with a poorer player and no net gain would be stupid.

But didn't your Club say he's a backup player next year
So the likely scenario is he plays a lot of SANFL next year and is worth zero at the end of his contract
I really don't know how these trade things work but Descartian logic would require at least a hypothesis that IF Player X is a listed player because of contract only and will only play senior footy if injuries THEN a high second round draft pick seems wildly optimistic
Would he not be in the same boat as Miles and Ellis who are worth nothing?

Tell you what
With all these "quality individuals" other Clubs are offering we'll have to sing Kumbayah if we win a match rather than We Are The Suns
Has all the feel of a dodgy used car salesman
"I've got no idea why I'm letting this go at this price.Ya killing me mate!"
What a difference having a wallet full of loot(picks ) makes;)

Correct Ports list boss on trade radio today said.
They told him at his exit interview he wont be playing seniors if they have a fit list.

And are happy if he looks around

So yeah. I guess he is worth pick 19 then

Lol

Why Hall deal take so long to finalised , I just want to know what North give to GC .

We probably want their best pick now. Seeing as he’s already been unveiled as a Roo

A defender that can ruck , wonder Bulldog take pick 59 for him . .

I see we did Brisbane a bit of a favour this morning with a swap of picks in their favour so they can get an Academy Player they want.

I have not noticed one Brisbane fan come in here today and show some gratitude.

Hmmmm

Would you trade a 25 yr old key defender who will be first 22 for pick 40+ knowing you have zero behind them and have to recruit a replacement? What does his replacement cost? How good are they?

If we didn’t have May and Thompson sure he may play in our best 22... have Burgess there now and potential to pick up Collins so unless we delist Leslie why would we pay overs?

Anyone across how many senior list spots we might have available?

Tried to work it out...

Outs:
Tom Lynch
Michael Barlow
Michael Rischatelli
Matt Rosa
Josh Jaska (rookie)
Max Spencer (rookie)
Mackenzie Willis (rookie)

Uncontracted: Trade/delist
Aaron Hall
Kade Kolodjashnij
Jack Leslie
Jesse Lonergan
Jacob Dawson (rookie)
Jacob Heron (rookie)

Unknown:
Steven May
Jack Scrimshaw

Payed out, delisted & rookie listed:
Scheer
Wigg

Senior list ins:
Miles
Ellis
Corbett
Burgess
MacPherson (upgraded)
Horlin-Smith (to sign shortly)
5 x draft?

That’s senior 11 senior spots needed already.

One of May or Scrimshaw would need to go to create 11 senior spots.

Maybe helps explains us having Scrimma on the table?

Unless I’ve miscalculated??

I see it more along the lines of
Outs:
Tom Lynch

Josh Jaska (rookie)
Max Spencer (rookie)
Mackenzie Willis (rookie)

Uncontracted: Trade/delist
Kade Kolodjashnij
Jack Leslie
Jesse Lonergan
Jacob Dawson (rookie) - no reason to move these guys on from the rookie list. senior spots is where the squeeze is
Jacob Heron (rookie) - no reason to move these guys on from the rookie list. senior spots is where the squeeze is

Unknown:
Steven May
Jack Scrimshaw

Payed out, delisted & rookie listed:
Scheer - this hasnt been confirmed yet, i imagine it will depend on the above.
Wigg - this hasnt been confirmed yet

Senior list ins:
Miles
Ellis
Corbett* Whichever of these two guys got the four year deal is on the senior list (as cant be on rookie list more than three years). the other could quite easily (and IMO is likely) be on the rookie list, given we were allocated 2 additional rookie list positions and 3 selections.)
Burgess*
MacPherson (upgraded)
Horlin-Smith (to sign shortly)
5 x draft?

I see 5 senior outs and 10 senior ins.
If we lose all of kolo, leslie, and lonergan that takes us to 8 senior outs to 10 ins.
From there we only need to find one more spot from May/Scrim/Scheer/Wigg, as i'm pretty sure we were one light on the senior list anyway.
This assumes:
we DO get GHS
we avoid picking up any other detritus from other clubs Hombsch etc
the other predraft selection goes onto the rookie list.

Out of contract and he plays what ? 16 or less games like he did this year he still costs about a 3rd rounder at trade table would be my guess.

Have we gone in to thank them for giving us a better pick?

We obviously did it for our benefit as well.

I send you in to thank them .

I was trying to figure out what you meant by that so I hit on “show ignored content” and see it was in response to gcsunsfc responding to me.
It sort of sucks that if you have someone on ignore that they can still reply and take pot shots that you are unaware of.
I have zero time for gcsunsfc.

And he's back
Probably your truest to form post since return from exile
Nice bodman

Was a bit surprised by that. What happens if someone puts a bid on say Caleb Graham at 40. Will the Suns have enough points in the remaining draft picks to match it.

Again- we're just guessing, but at 3rd round level you're weighing up the potential of a skinny 17yo "project" vs a guy who's proved himself but now has injuries
So yeah-maybe about right-but I think we use those picks on our Academy guys don't we?

Pick 24,59,80 = pick 32,41,44, 77 hopefully no more FA combo after pick 50.

Come on mate. I know you have a rugby league background and this observation is very common in NRL social circles but I don't think it really applies in the AFL. Both clubs have been quite amicable towards one another over the years when it comes to drafting/trading. Example: Brisbane chose not to bid on Bowes in 2016 when you could easily argue it was in their best interests to go after him at the time and make life difficult for us.

Lions fans don't owe us gratitude for a trade that benefitted us as well. We no longer needed a lot of those later picks after Bailey Scott chose to join North Melbourne. We can use pick 24 to our advantage more than those later picks.
