Hope you guys don't mind the intrusion.
Reading your draft discussion is somewhat similar to reading the Lions draft discussion from the last couple of years.
Peel67skin it's worth having a look at the original post in the Nominal AFL Draft Order thread, particularly the Squiggle Predictor Ladder below Lore's Nominal Draft Picks table. Depending on where you guesstimate a bid for Scott (if he nominates GC) will come in, and depending on how many picks (i.e. vacant list spots) you take to the draft, it might very well be worth your club packaging a couple of picks together to gain another top 15 pick if possible.
Not sure why you would consider a bid on Charlie Cameron's brother in the second round. Unless you actually want him at your club. Clubs aren't going to match early bids on players if there are better kids available at their next pick. West Coast likely wouldn't match with their two second round picks, but do have two fourth round picks to match a bid with.
As for Thomas Berry. Well if fans had a say in their clubs draft picks... Your second round picks are after the Lions second round pick, and Lions fans are very keen on Berry younger with our second round pick. But a general belief amongst a few of us Lions U18 draft watchers is that Berry younger could push up in to top 15 calculations, especially if he can remain injury free and not run himself in to another goal post.
Also, it will be interesting to see where clubs bid on other clubs academy and F/S kids. Not only will clubs have to look at what kids they have first access to in this years draft, they'll have to look at what kids they have in next years draft, and guess where their draft range might be.
If North remain in the top 8, clubs will be keen to bid on Tarryn Thomas before Norths first pick, denying North a chance to double dip in the first round, so to speak. Similarly clubs might look at bidding on Bailey Scott before your second first round pick, as it will increase their draft pool by one extra player. Both Port and Adelaide (especially Adelaide as they currently sit with picks 16 and 19) are in a position to do this, as each has a pick before your second pick, and picks right after your second pick and before your third pick. Adelaide, bidding at pick 16 on Bailey Scott, sees you match with pick 18, thus allowing Adelaide one extra kid at their pick 18. If 18 and 25 get you 16 and 37 and maybe something like a 4th round pick next year, you might consider it. You get two first round picks, and still have enough points to match bids on Bailey Scott and Caleb Graham.
